What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 28,000 mm GORE-TEX with fully taped seams
  • Cordura at the lower leg against boot and edge wear
  • Snow gaiters plus loops for a jacket powder skirt
  • No insulation: you layer the warmth yourself
  • Half-leg vents only, no full-length side zips
  • Offered in XS to L only

The Peak Performance Gravity Gore-Tex 3L Shell Pants Women are non-insulated three-layer GORE-TEX ski pants built for freeride and resort skiing in wet, windy weather. A 28,000 mm water column and fully taped seams keep the weather out, while a relaxed cut and Cordura reinforcement at the lower leg handle boot buckles, edges and long days on the lift. There is no insulation: you build the warmth underneath.

Who are these shell pants for?

They suit a skier who moves between groomers and the off-piste next to them in all conditions and prefers to choose her own layers. If you want a pant that is warm on its own, these are not it, because the Peak Performance Gravity Gore-Tex 3L Shell Pants Women carry no insulation at all. They are also not a weight-focused touring pant: the relaxed cut, the Cordura panels and the absence of full-length side zips favour durability over pack size.

How waterproof and breathable are they?

The three-layer GORE-TEX laminate is rated at 28,000 mm water column and every seam is taped, so sitting on a wet chairlift or a snowy ridge does not soak through. Breathability sits below RET 20. Half-leg zips open up for warm laps and short climbs; that is the full extent of the ventilation, so a hot spring afternoon will still feel warm.

Which size should you choose?

The cut is relaxed, with room for a base layer or a thin insulating pant and space for ski boots inside the snow gaiters. This style runs from XS to L. Check the size chart against your own measurements before you order, and bear in mind that the waistband has hook-and-loop adjusters and inside loops for suspenders.

How is the three-layer GORE-TEX construction put together?

The Peak Performance Gravity Gore-Tex 3L Shell Pants Women use a single bonded laminate rather than a shell with a loose lining. The face is 100% recycled polyamide 6, the membrane is 100% expanded polyethylene and the backer is 100% polyamide 6.6. Bonding those three layers gives a pant that is 28,000 mm waterproof and windproof without a separate inner fabric flapping against your legs. All seams are sealed, so the stitch holes are covered as well as the fabric. A RECCO Rescue System reflector is integrated for use by organised rescue services.

Are these pants suitable for freeride, piste and touring?

Freeride and lift-served skiing is where the Gravity shell pant from Peak Performance works best. Snow gaiters with anti-slip elastic seal around ski boots, loops at the hem snap into the powder skirt system of a compatible ski jacket, and Cordura reinforcement protects the lower leg from edges and buckles. Articulated legs keep the pant out of the way in deep turns. For short hike-to laps the half-leg ventilation zips release heat. For long ascents the picture changes: there are no full-length side zips, and the relaxed, reinforced build is made for durability rather than low weight or small pack volume. On cold static days you will need an insulating pant underneath, since the shell itself adds no warmth.

What are they made of and how do you care for them?

Recycled polyamide 6 on the face gives the abrasion resistance you want from a resort pant, and the Cordura panels at the lower leg take the hardest wear. Wash the pants at 40 °C, inside out, with similar colours and with the zippers closed. Skip fabric softener and bleach, do not dry clean, and line dry in the shade or tumble dry on low. Heat matters here: a tumble dry or a medium iron after washing reactivates the water-repellent treatment on the face fabric, which is what keeps the surface from wetting out.

What makes this a more responsible choice?

The Peak Performance Gravity Gore-Tex 3L Shell Pants Women are made without intentionally added PFAS, and the face fabric is 100% recycled polyamide 6. A durable, repair-friendly shell that you layer yourself also tends to stay in use longer than a pant with fixed insulation you can only wear in one temperature window.

Gore-Tex
Gore-Tex
Gore-Tex is a high-quality waterproof and breathable technology that provides protection against rain, snow, and wind. The membrane contains microscopic pores that are large enough to allow moisture to escape, yet small enough to block water from entering. This keeps you dry and comfortable during activity and in changing weather conditions. Known for its durability and reliable performance, Gore-Tex is a popular choice in winter and outdoor apparel where comfort and protection are essential.
