- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.
STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

4. Shipping

5. Refund

The Arc'teryx Bird Word Cap is a 53 g unisex six-panel ball cap built for warm-weather hiking, rock climbing and bouldering. The body is Circuitâ„¢ stretch polyester, a 99 g/m2 plain weave that is air permeable and carries a PFAS-compliant FC0 DWR finish, so light moisture beads up instead of soaking in. A spacer mesh sweatband and an adjustable buckle closure complete it.
Who is the Bird Word Cap for?
The Arc'teryx Bird Word Cap suits hikers, climbers, boulderers and trail runners who want a light, fast-drying cap with a sweat-wicking band on hot days, with the Arc'teryx Bird and word logos as the only decoration. It is not the cap for cold days: there is no insulation and no ear coverage. It carries no UPF or SPF rating and is not tested or certified for sun protection, so if you have a shaved or sun-sensitive scalp, choose headwear that is rated for it.
How much weather protection does this cap give?
Protection in the Arc'teryx Bird Word Cap comes from a DWR finish only. The 99 g/m2 polyester weave has no membrane and no water-column figure, which makes it a cap for a passing shower rather than for sustained rain. The same fabric is listed as air permeable, so it moves heat and moisture well but offers no wind protection. The spacer mesh sweatband keeps perspiration from running into your eyes on steep, hot ascents.
Which size of the Bird Word Cap should I choose?
The cap comes in two sizes, S-M and L-XL, with an adjustable rear buckle to fine-tune the circumference. Measure your head circumference just above the ears and compare it with the hat sizing chart on this page. Keep in mind that the crown is largely unstructured apart from the front panel and brim, and sits shallow on the head, so it does not hold a rigid, deep shape.
What is Circuitâ„¢ stretch polyester and how is the cap built?
The Arc'teryx Bird Word Cap uses a six-panel construction with a reinforced brim and a spacer mesh sweatband running around the inside. The single fabric is Circuitâ„¢ stretch polyester, a polyester stretch plain weave at 99 g/m2 with an FC0 DWR treatment. That combination explains the total weight of 53 g: there is no lining and no insulation layer, just one light, stretchy woven with a repellent surface finish. The stretch in the weave lets the panels follow the shape of your head, while the buckle at the rear sets the circumference within the size you choose.
Is the Bird Word Cap suitable for hiking, climbing and trail running?
Hiking and rock climbing in warm, sunny weather is what the Arc'teryx Bird Word Cap is built around, with bouldering, trail running and everyday summer wear as natural extensions. The brim keeps low sun out of your eyes on an exposed approach, the air-permeable weave vents heat on a long ascent, and the DWR finish sheds the drizzle that often ends a summer climbing day. Two limits are worth knowing before you order. Several wearers report the rear adjustment strap slipping once it is pulled tight, which matters most at running pace or in strong wind. And nothing in the design addresses wear under a ski or climbing helmet, so treat it as a bare-head cap.
What is the Bird Word Cap made of and how do you wash it?
The body of the Arc'teryx Bird Word Cap is 100% polyester. Polyester handles sweat, repeated packing and UV exposure well and dries quickly after a soaking, which is the main reason it is used here rather than cotton. The care label allows a low-temperature machine wash with line drying, no bleach, no fabric softener, no ironing and no dry cleaning, and dark colours should be washed separately. Because the reinforced brim can twist or lose its shape in a drum, surface cleaning by hand is the gentler route if the cap is only lightly soiled. As with any synthetic, washing can release plastic microfibres into the water system, so wash it only when it needs it. The 24K Black colourway is a near-black, very dark neutral.
What are the sustainability credentials of this cap?
The Circuit™ stretch polyester in the Arc'teryx Bird Word Cap is a bluesign® approved material, meaning it is produced through processes that meet bluesign® criteria, and it is listed as a bluepass material. The FC0 DWR finish is PFAS compliant, so the water repellency does not rely on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. The cap also carries the Fair Trade Certified designation, and it is made in China.
