More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 850 fill down plus Coreloft 80 in damp zones
- Just 255 g, with its own stuff sack included
- Fitted cut layers cleanly under a hardshell
- No hood: needs a shell for storm protection
- 15D face fabric snags on rock and pack straps
- Fitted cut: no room for a thick fleece under it
The Arc'teryx Cerium Jacket Women's is a 255 g hoodless down jacket with 850 fill European white goose down, built as an alpine midlayer under a shell and as a standalone layer in dry cold. Down Composite Mapping places Coreloft 80 synthetic insulation in the zones where moisture collects and keeps down in the main warmth zones. It packs into an included stuff sack.
Who is the Cerium Jacket Women's for?
The Cerium Jacket Women's suits a woman who wants one light, compressible down layer for cold alpine days, hiking and resort skiing under a hardshell, and who accepts a close cut and a delicate face fabric in return for the warmth-to-weight. It is not for sustained rain or wet snow: there is no waterproof membrane. It is also not a resort outer layer, with no powder skirt and no snowsport hardware. With no hood, storm protection comes from the shell you wear over it.
How warm is the Cerium Jacket Women's?
Warmth in the Arc'teryx Cerium Jacket Women's comes from 850 fill power European white goose down (100% white goose down, minimum 90% down, RDS certified) in the main zones, plus Coreloft 80 synthetic insulation at 80 g/m² where perspiration collects. The whole jacket weighs 255 g, and a high collar closes the gap at the neck. Down dominates the fill, and soaked down loses loft, so treat this as stop-and-start warmth rather than a layer for hours of hard sweating.
Which size should you choose?
Arc'teryx cuts the Cerium Jacket Women's Fitted: close through chest, waist and hip, with articulated sleeves and a centre back length of 64 cm in size S. Measure your chest and waist against the Arc'teryx women's tops size chart on this page; this style is offered in S, M and L. The low profile is meant to go over a base layer or under a shell, so a thick fleece underneath will not fit.
What is Down Composite Mapping in the Cerium Jacket Women's?
Arc'teryx builds the Cerium Jacket Women's around two insulations in one shell. The main warmth zones carry 850 fill power European white goose down, RDS certified by IDFL under No. TE-99950273. The zones where moisture builds up carry Coreloft 80, a 100% polyester synthetic insulation at 80 g/m² that keeps working when it is damp. Holding it all together is an Arato 15 face fabric: a recycled 15D nylon microrip with dope dyed yarns, finished with an FC0 DWR treatment and PFAS compliant. The lining is a 10D x 20D ripstop nylon. The result is a complete jacket of 255 g with a reverse coil centre-front zipper and TPU zipper pulls.
Can you ski in the Arc'teryx Cerium Jacket Women's?
Yes, as a midlayer. Under a hardshell on a cold resort day the Cerium Jacket Women's adds down warmth without bulk, and the articulated sleeve patterning keeps it from binding when you pole or reach. On alpine routes and hikes it works as the layer you pull on at a belay or a rest stop and stuff back into its sack, which comes attached inside the internal pocket and can be removed by undoing the loop. Where it stops is clear: no waterproof membrane, no powder skirt, no listed RECCO reflector and no ski pass pocket, so it is not the jacket to ski in as your outer layer. The 15D face fabric is chosen for low weight rather than abrasion resistance, so rock contact, pack straps and ski edges will mark it.
What is the Cerium Jacket Women's made of and how do you wash it?
Shell and lining are both nylon, the down is 100% white goose down with a minimum of 90% down content, and the synthetic zones are 100% polyester. Washing is straightforward but worth doing properly, because down only insulates when it is lofted. Machine wash gentle at a low temperature, ideally in a front load machine, and use a mesh bag if your machine is top loading. Run a double rinse, skip the fabric softener and the bleach, and wash dark colours on their own. Tumble dry gentle on low with a few tennis balls to break up the clumps. Do not dry clean and do not iron. Like other synthetic garments, this jacket can release plastic microfibres when washed, so wash it only when it needs it.
How sustainable is the Cerium Jacket Women's?
The down in the Arc'teryx Cerium Jacket Women's is Responsible Down Standard certified, and the feather content does not exceed the legally allowable amount. The face fabric is recycled nylon with dope dyed yarns, a dyeing method that uses less water and dye, and the DWR finish is FC0 and PFAS compliant. The jacket uses bluesign approved materials, the lining is a bio-derived material and the padding is described as a bluepass material. It is sewn in a Fair Trade Certified facility in Vietnam, with fabric and dyeing from Japan.
