More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- Fortius™ 2.0 softshell, 186 g/m², four-way stretch
- Low-profile waist sits under harness or hipbelt
- 355 g with gusseted crotch for high steps on rock
- Water resistant DWR only, not a waterproof pant
- Uninsulated mesh lining: needs a base layer in cold
- Stocked in 30R-36R only, no Short or Tall inseam
The Arc'teryx Gamma Pant is an uninsulated men's softshell pant built for rock climbing, bouldering and hiking in cool, breezy or lightly wet conditions. It is made from air-permeable Fortius™ 2.0, a 186 g/m² four-way stretch woven fabric, and weighs 355 grams. A low-profile waist adjustment lets the pant sit flat under a climbing harness or a pack hipbelt, which is what sets it apart from a general-purpose walking trouser.
Who is the Arc'teryx Gamma Pant for?
Choose the Gamma Pant if you want one durable, stretchy pant for cool-weather rock days, alpine approaches and active spring and autumn mountain use, and you accept weather resistance instead of waterproofing. The gusseted crotch and four-way stretch keep high steps and heel hooks free, and the zippered thigh pocket stays reachable with a harness on. It is the wrong pant for lift-served skiing, freeride and deep snow: there is no waterproof membrane, no inner boot gaiter and no snow-specific detailing. If you want a fleece-backed winter version from the same family, the Gamma MX Pant is the one to look at.
How weatherproof is the Gamma Pant?
The Arc'teryx Gamma Pant is water resistant and wind resistant rather than waterproof and windproof. An FC0 DWR finish on the Fortius™ 2.0 shell sheds light rain, and the air-permeable weave keeps the pant breathing on a sweaty approach, but sustained or heavy rain will eventually soak through. A laminated hem and an adjustable hem drawcord close the leg opening down over a boot against drafts and grit.
Which size should you choose in the Gamma Pant?
The Gamma Pant has a regular fit, cut comfortably through waist, hip and thigh and sized by numeric waist. Customers report it runs true to size, so order your usual waist. Between two waist sizes, take the larger one: the integrated low-profile webbing belt with metal buckle takes up the slack. Only Regular inseams are stocked here, 84 cm at size 32. The pant layers under regular and relaxed fit shell pants; add a light merino or thermal base layer underneath for cold or damp days.
How is the Arc'teryx Gamma Pant constructed?
The body of the Arc'teryx Gamma Pant is Fortius™ 2.0: a woven softshell of 88% nylon and 12% elastane at 186 g/m², with recycled content. The weave is air permeable and stretches in four directions, so the fabric moves with a high step instead of resisting it. Harder-wearing Fortius™ DW 2.0 panels are placed in specific areas. Inside sits a warp knit mesh lining in 100% polyester that helps the pant slide over a base layer. A gusseted crotch removes the seam junction under load, the hem is laminated and drawcord-adjustable, and the whole pant weighs 355 grams.
Is the Gamma Pant suitable for alpine climbing and ski touring?
On rock, the Arc'teryx Gamma Pant is in its element: the waist adjustment is deliberately low profile so a climbing harness or a hipbelt closes over it without a bulge, and the thigh pocket zip sits clear of the leg loops. On alpine days it works as the softshell layer you wear all day and cover with a hardshell when the weather turns. Where it stops is clear. There is no membrane, so steady rain is a shell-pant job. There is no insulation and the mesh lining adds almost no warmth, so standing still in the cold without a base layer underneath will feel chilly. No inner gaiters, no scuff guards and no RECCO reflector are fitted, which rules it out for resort and freeride skiing.
What are the materials and how do you care for the Gamma Pant?
Nylon with 12% elastane gives the Arc'teryx Gamma Pant its abrasion resistance and its recovery, so the knees do not bag out over a long approach. Wash it on a low machine setting, keep dark colours such as the solid near-black Black colourway separate, and use a double rinse. Skip fabric softener and bleach entirely, since softener coats the fibres and works against the FC0 DWR finish. Tumble dry on low and iron low if needed; do not dry clean. Like all synthetic fabrics, this one can release plastic microfibres into the water during washing, so wash it only when it needs it.
What makes the Gamma Pant a responsible choice?
The Arc'teryx Gamma Pant is made with materials produced through processes that meet bluesign® criteria, and shell and lining are both bluepass materials. The shell contains recycled content. The water-repellent finish is FC0 DWR and the pant is PFAS compliant. Sewing takes place in a Fair Trade Certified™ facility, Spectre Garment Technologies in An Giang, Vietnam.
