What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

5. Refund

This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.

Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

Product information
  • Air-permeable softshell vents heat, no membrane
  • Low-profile waistbelt sits under harness or hipbelt
  • Articulated hips and knees, tapered stretch legs
  • No membrane: wets out in sustained rain
  • Uninsulated summer fabric, not a ski pant
  • Narrow cuff, reported tight over the calf

The Arc'teryx Gamma SL Pant Women's is a lightweight, air-permeable softshell pant for warm-weather rock climbing, bouldering and hiking. The Fortius™ 1.0 woven double weave stretches with the body and carries no membrane, so heat and moisture pass straight out through the fabric. An adjustable low-profile waistbelt sits flat under a climbing harness or a pack hipbelt, which is what separates this pant from a general hiking trouser.

Who is the Gamma SL Pant Women's for?

It suits a woman who climbs, boulders, scrambles and hikes in warm, dry conditions and wants one close-fitting stretch pant that disappears under a harness. The Arc'teryx Gamma SL Pant Women's is not a snowsport pant: no insulation, no snow cuffs, no waterproof membrane. Resort skiing, ski touring and freeride days still need a dedicated shell, and in sustained rain or wet snow this fabric will wet out.

How breathable and weather-resistant is it?

Breathability is the whole point of the Gamma SL Pant Women's. The air-permeable woven softshell releases excess heat continuously, with no membrane to slow it down and no leg vents needed. An FC0-DWR durable water repellent finish, stated as PFAS compliant, sheds light showers and spray off a wet slab. The fabric is wind resistant rather than windproof: the same air permeability that keeps you cool lets a cold wind through.

Which size should you choose?

Arc'teryx cuts the Gamma SL Pant Women's Fitted: close through waist, hip and thigh, with a mid-waist rise and tapered legs that stay narrow at the calf and ankle. Measure your waist, hip and thigh and compare them with the women's bottoms size chart on this page instead of ordering your usual size. Between two sizes, the larger one gives a looser fit and the smaller one a closer fit. Stocked here in 6/R, 8/R and 10/R, Regular inseam.

How is the Arc'teryx Gamma SL Pant Women's built?

The Gamma SL Pant Women's is a membrane-free softshell pant. The face fabric is Fortius™ 1.0, a woven double weave that stretches in four directions and stays air permeable, so warm air moves out of the pant instead of collecting against the skin. A warp knit mesh lining sits behind it and keeps the fabric moving smoothly over a base layer. A durable water repellent FC0-DWR finish on the surface makes water bead up and run off. Articulated patterning through the hips and knees means a high step or a deep squat on rock does not pull the waistbelt down or bind behind the knee.

Is the Gamma SL Pant Women's suitable for climbing and multi-day hiking?

This is a climbing and hiking pant first. The adjustable low-profile waistbelt is designed to sit under a harness waistbelt or a backpack hipbelt without a bulky buckle digging in, and the tapered legs keep fabric away from your feet on an approach scramble. Two zippered hand pockets and one zippered thigh pocket hold the small items you want secured; note that there is only one thigh pocket, and several customers report that the zippered hip pockets sit exactly where a loaded hipbelt rides and are awkward to use there. Eyelets at the hem let you thread a shock cord to hold the cuffs over boots, but no drawcord is built into the cuff, so you need to add one yourself. Customers also describe the lower leg as narrow: pulling a cuff up over the calf, for a stream crossing or over a tall boot, is difficult. The Gamma SL Pant Women's stops where the weather turns: it is uninsulated, water repellent rather than waterproof, and has no thermal or snow features.

What materials are used and how do you care for the Gamma SL Pant?

The Fortius™ 1.0 double weave body and the warp knit mesh lining are synthetic, which means the Arc'teryx Gamma SL Pant Women's dries quickly and holds its shape after repeated stretching. Wash it on a low temperature with a double rinse, keep dark colours such as Earth separate, and skip fabric softener and bleach — softener coats the fibres and reduces the air permeability and the water-repellent finish. Tumble dry on low, iron on low if needed, and do not dry clean. Localised stains can be spot cleaned with a technical detergent diluted with water.

What about sustainability?

The water-repellent finish on the Gamma SL Pant Women's is stated as PFAS compliant. As with any synthetic fabric, washing can release plastic microfibres, so wash less often and wash full loads at low temperature.
