What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Pant is a men's stretch cotton-blend climbing trouser for the crag, the boulder and the gym, cut from a 200 g/m2 Cotton/Nylon Stretch Dobby with 14% elastane. Its defining detail is the zippered thigh pocket set on the back of the leg, so it stays reachable when a climbing harness covers the front of the hip. These are uninsulated trousers with no membrane: climbing kit that passes as everyday trousers, not snowsports pants.

Who is the Kragg Cotton Pant for?

It suits a climber who wants one hard-wearing pair of stretch cotton trousers for a multi-pitch route, a session indoors, a hike in or a flight home. The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Pant is not for skiing or snowboarding: there is no waterproof membrane, no water column rating and none of the snow-specific hardware such as boot gaiters, powder cuffs or RECCO. Skip it for sustained rain or wet snow, and for cold days if you have nothing to wear underneath.

How weatherproof and hard-wearing is the fabric?

The body is a 200 g/m2 cotton-nylon dobby - 66% cotton, 20% nylon, 14% elastane - finished with an FC0 DWR that is free from intentionally added PFAS. That finish beads off a light shower and spindrift from a chalk bag, nothing more. Because the weave is cotton-dominant, it absorbs water once wetted out and dries slower than a synthetic softshell. Total garment weight is 340 g. Bar-tack reinforcements and double-needle topstitching carry the load points.

Which size should you choose?

Regular fit: cut comfortably through waist, hip and thigh, with extra thigh room over the brand's Gamma Pant (76.1 cm versus 72.9 cm at size 36). Waist is sized numerically and length separately in Short, Regular and Tall. At size 32 the inseam runs 76 cm (S), 81 cm (R) and 89 cm (T), and the leg opening at 32-R is 36.3 cm. Between two waist sizes, go up for a looser look or down for a more tailored one, and check your own waist and inseam against the men's bottoms size chart.

How is the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Pant constructed?

The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Pant is a five-pocket trouser built around one body fabric and a lot of pattern work. A gusseted crotch moves fabric into the point of highest load, so a high step or a wide stem does not pull the waist down. Articulated patterning shapes the knees in advance, which keeps the leg from riding up when you weight a foothold. Bar-tack reinforcements sit at the stress points and the seams are closed with double-needle topstitching. The two open rear pockets are made from two layers of fabric rather than one. At 340 g the trousers stay in the weight class of a heavyweight everyday pant rather than a technical shell.

Does the Kragg Cotton Pant work under a climbing harness?

Pocket placement is the answer. The Kragg Cotton Pant carries two hand pockets, two open rear pockets and a zippered thigh pocket positioned on the back of the leg, where a harness leg loop and waist belt leave it clear. A wide waistband sits under the harness belt. The stretch in the weave - 14% elastane - covers the range of movement a boulder problem or a sport pitch asks for, and the same trousers carry straight into a hike to the crag, a travel day or ordinary wear. Where it stops is weather and snow: with a DWR finish only, no insulation and no lining, this trouser has nothing to offer on a ski day, in a long downpour or on a cold belay without a layer underneath.

What is the fabric and how do you care for it?

The body of the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Pant is a Cotton/Nylon Stretch Dobby at 200 g/m2, made up of 66% organically grown cotton, 20% nylon and 14% elastane. Cotton gives the hand and the resistance to rock abrasion, nylon adds tear strength, elastane returns the shape. Machine wash gentle at low temperature, wash dark colours separately and tumble dry on low heat. Do not bleach, do not dry clean and do not use fabric softener, which coats the fibres and kills the water repellency. Iron on low if needed. The DWR fades with wear and washing: when water stops beading on the surface, wash the trousers and reapply a DWR treatment. The fabric cleans up easily but is not fully stain-resistant.

What are the sustainability credentials of the Kragg Cotton Pant?

The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Pant uses materials produced through processes that meet bluesign criteria, and the body fabric is made with organically grown cotton. The FC0 DWR is PFAS compliant, free from intentionally added per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. The trousers are sewn in a Fair Trade Certified facility, YOUNGONE (CEPZ) LTD in Bangladesh.

Many garments from Rossignol are treated with a durable water-repellent coating (DWR). This layer ensures that water droplets roll off the surface without restricting breathability. This makes the clothing suitable for wet and snowy conditions.
