A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 105 g, 110 gsm Phasic LT knit that dries fast
- Thumbholes and gusseted underarms for free reach
- Longer body stays put under harness or hipbelt
- No UPF rating, so not a sun-protection layer
- No insulation or membrane: warm weather only
- Sleeves run long; stocked in S, M and L only
The Arc'teryx Sunna Crew Shirt LS is a women's lightweight long-sleeve technical shirt built from 40d Phasic LT, a 110 gsm four-way stretch polyester knit that wicks moisture and dries fast. It weighs 105 grams and has no membrane and no insulation, so it is a warm-weather working layer rather than a weather layer. What sets it apart is the cut: a longer body that stays covered under a climbing harness or a pack hipbelt, plus low-profile thumbholes at the cuffs.
Who is the Sunna Crew Shirt LS for?
This Arc'teryx long-sleeve shirt suits a woman who hikes fast, scrambles, boulders or trail runs in warm conditions and wants her arms covered without adding warmth. The gusseted underarms keep the hem in place when you reach overhead on rock. It is not a garment for cold days on its own, not a rain or wind layer, and it carries no UPF rating, so do not buy it as a sun-protection shirt.
How breathable and how warm is this shirt?
Very breathable, and deliberately not warm. A single-layer 110 gsm knit with no lining and no membrane moves sweat vapour out as fast as anything you can wear, which is the point on a steep climb in heat. The flip side is that 110 gsm of polyester gives no insulation value at all. Below roughly room temperature you will need a mid layer or shell over it.
Which size should you choose?
Arc'teryx cuts the Sunna Crew Shirt LS in a Regular fit: comfortable through chest, waist and hip, so it layers over a sports bra or under a shell without bunching. It runs true to size, so order your usual size. The sleeves are cut long, which is what makes the thumbholes work; if you have shorter arms, expect length past the wrist. Measure and compare with the women's tops size chart on this page.
What is Phasic LT and how is the Sunna Crew Shirt LS built?
The Arc'teryx Sunna Crew Shirt LS is made from a single fabric: 40d Phasic LT, 110 gsm, 100% polyester, knitted with four-way stretch. There is no membrane, no laminate and no lining to slow down moisture transfer. The knit pulls sweat off the skin and spreads it across the surface so it evaporates quickly, and the stretch means the shirt follows a shoulder rotation instead of resisting it. Construction details are few and purposeful: a crew neck, gusseted underarms that add reach without lifting the hem, low-profile thumbholes at the cuffs, and a body cut longer than a standard tee. The fabric carries an anti-odour treatment with Silvadur, a biocidal product, and the shirt is PFAS compliant.
Is the Sunna Crew Shirt LS suitable for climbing and hiking?
Yes, and that is where the design decisions point. Arc'teryx states the longer body length is intended for wear under a harness, which is the difference between a shirt that stays put on a multi-pitch day and one that rides up every time you pull on. The same length keeps skin covered under a pack hipbelt on a long hike, and the gusseted underarms suit scrambling and bouldering. Trail running and fast walking in heat work equally well at 105 grams. Where the Sunna Crew Shirt LS stops is weather and cold: no water column, no membrane, no wind resistance, no insulation. For resort skiing, touring in winter or standing around in deep cold, this shirt only works buried under other layers, and even then it is a wicking layer and nothing more.
What is the fabric and how do you wash it?
The body is 100% polyester in a 110 gsm Phasic LT knit, woven and dyed in Japan and sewn in Vietnam. Polyester of this weight handles frequent washing and dries quickly on a line or in a pack, but it is a synthetic: it sheds plastic microfibres in the wash, and the odour control comes from a chemical treatment rather than from a natural fibre, so if you prefer merino or untreated fabrics this is not your shirt. Machine wash gentle at medium temperature, wash dark colours separately, and skip fabric softener, which coats the knit and slows down wicking. Tumble dry on low, iron on low if needed, no bleach and no dry cleaning.
How sustainable is this Arc'teryx shirt?
The Sunna Crew Shirt LS contains recycled content in the fabric and is PFAS compliant. It is sewn in a Fair Trade Certified facility, Youngone Nam Dinh Company Ltd in Vietnam. Arc'teryx also states plainly that the garment can release plastic microfibres into the environment during washing, which is worth knowing before you add it to a frequent-wash rotation.
