What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

  • No membrane or DWR: needs a shell in the wet
  • 81% cotton holds sweat and dries slowly

The Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover is a men's crew-neck fleece built from a 300 gsm cotton/polyester circular knit, made for warmth and comfort in dry conditions. It is the layer you pull on for the drive to the hill, a short hike or a bouldering session, not a weather layer: there is no membrane and no DWR treatment. What sets it apart is the fabric mix, an 81% cotton body with organically grown cotton and recycled content, finished with contrast 1x1 rib at the cuffs and hem.

Who is the Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover for?

This Arc'teryx fleece pullover suits you if you want a soft, warm everyday layer for travel to and from the ski hill, easy hikes, climbing sessions, apres-ski and town wear, and you already own a shell for actual weather. It is not the right choice for rain or wet snow, for wind exposure without a shell over it, or for high-output days such as ski touring and skinning, where an 81% cotton fabric holds sweat and dries slowly.

How warm is the Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover?

Warmth comes from fabric weight rather than insulation: a 300 gsm knit fleece body, 450 g on the scale, with no down or synthetic fill. That puts it a step above a light fleece for standing around on a cold morning, while the air-permeable knit keeps it comfortable on the move at low intensity. In cold or stormy mountain conditions it needs a shell over it.

Which size should you choose in the Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover?

The cut is a regular fit, roomy through chest, waist, hip and thigh, so it layers over a base layer or under a jacket. Measure your chest and compare it with the Arc'teryx men's tops size chart on this page before you order. Sizes run S, M, L and XL, and not every colour is offered in every size.

How is the Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover constructed?

The body of the Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover is a circular knit fleece at 300 gsm, blended 81% cotton and 19% polyester, with a smooth face and a brushed fleece back against the skin. Cuffs and hem use a contrast 1x1 rib of 58% cotton, 39% polyester and 3% elastane, so they hold their shape and keep draughts out at the wrists and waist. The crew neck sits flat under a hood or a collar, and an embroidered Arc'teryx bird and word logo marks the chest. Total weight is 450 g. No pockets are part of the design.

Is the Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover suitable for a day on the mountain?

Arc'teryx lists hiking and bouldering as the intended activities for this fleece pullover, and that is a fair description of where it works. It is a pull-on layer for the drive to the resort, the walk from the car park, a short hike, a bouldering session, the cool-down after a trail run and the first cold hour at camp. On a ski day it belongs in the bag or on your back before and after the lifts, or as a mid layer under a shell when conditions are dry and your output is low. It stops at sustained precipitation, at wind without a shell on top, and at aerobic efforts where a cotton-dominant knit stays damp. Heavy for the warmth it gives, the Emblem is a comfort layer rather than part of a weight-counted touring kit.

What are the materials and how do you care for it?

Cotton dominates the blend of the Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover, which is why it feels soft and quiet and why it needs a little respect in the wash. Machine wash it on a low setting and tumble dry low; skip bleach, fabric softener, the iron and dry cleaning. Wash the dark colourways, including Black and Dk Stratus, separately from lighter garments. Owners of this Arc'teryx fleece report surface pilling over time, which is typical behaviour for a brushed cotton-blend knit and worth factoring in if you plan to wear it daily. The fabric is woven and dyed in Thailand; the garment is sewn in Sri Lanka.

How sustainable is this Arc'teryx fleece?

Both the body fabric and the contrast rib of the Emblem Fleece Crew Neck Pullover use organically grown cotton and recycled content, and both are bluepass materials containing fibres produced through processes that meet bluesign criteria. The garment is PFAS compliant and is sewn in a Fair Trade Certified facility, MAS Active (Private) Limited - Asialine in Sri Lanka.
