A padded jacket or pants contains a filling of down, wool, or synthetic material.
More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Hoody is a men's pullover mid layer built around a 300 g/m2 cotton/polyester circular knit fleece, with a kangaroo pocket, ribbed cuffs and hem, and a full-coverage fitted hood. It is made for everyday warmth: travel days, camp, the drive to the trailhead and the hours after a climb. The fabric is the argument here, a soft cotton-rich knit whose self fabric carries 44% organically grown cotton and 19% recycled polyester, sewn in a Fair Trade Certified facility.
Who is the Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Hoody for?
It suits you if you want a heavyweight, soft fleece hoody for daily wear, travel and low-intensity outdoor days. Arc'teryx lists bouldering and hiking as the intended activities, which places it at the warm-up, approach and post-session end of the day. It is not for high-output efforts such as ski touring or running, where sweat has to move fast, and it is not a snowsport garment: no RECCO reflector, powder skirt or pass pocket.
How warm is the Emblem Fleece Hoody, and does it keep weather out?
Warmth comes from a single, substantial layer: a 300 g/m2 circular knit fleece body (81% cotton, 19% polyester) with ribbing at the cuffs and hem that keeps draughts from travelling up the sleeve. There is no membrane and no water-repellent finish, so rain, wet snow and steady wind go through it. Treat the Emblem Fleece Hoody as a dry-weather warm layer and put a shell over it when the weather turns.
Which size should you choose in the Emblem Fleece Hoody?
Arc'teryx cuts the Emblem Fleece Hoody in a Regular fit: comfortable through chest, waist and hip, with room to wear a shirt or base layer underneath. It is offered here in S, M and L. Check your chest measurement against the Arc'teryx men's tops size chart on this page before ordering, and bear in mind that a cotton-rich knit can tighten up slightly in the wash.
How is the Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Hoody constructed?
The Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Hoody is a pullover, so there is no front zip to break the warmth across the chest. The body is a circular knit fleece at 300 g/m2, blending 81% cotton with 19% polyester for a soft hand with some structure. Cuffs and hem are a 1x1 rib of 58% cotton, 39% polyester and 3% elastane, which holds its shape after repeated pulling on and off. The hood is full-coverage and fitted, with drawcords so you can close it down, and a lining of organic cotton sits against the skin. The kangaroo pocket has a bonded opening rather than a stitched one, which keeps the front panel clean.
Is the Emblem Fleece Hoody suitable for skiing or ski touring?
No, and it is worth being clear about why. The body fabric of the Emblem Fleece Hoody is cotton-dominant, so it absorbs moisture and gives it back slowly. Under a hardshell on a lift day it stays damp; on a skin track it is the wrong tool entirely. At 600 g it is also heavy and bulky for the mid layer role. Where it does work in a ski week is off the hill: the lodge, the apartment, the evening walk into town, the drive home. On a boulder session or a cool hike it does the same job between efforts, then comes off when you start moving hard.
What materials is it made of and how do you wash it?
The Arc'teryx Emblem Fleece Hoody uses a cotton/polyester fleece body, a cotton/polyester/elastane rib at the cuffs and hem, and an organic cotton lining. The self fabric is specified as 44% organic cotton, 37% cotton and 19% recycled polyester. Cotton-rich knitwear rewards gentle treatment: machine wash on low, tumble dry on low, skip the bleach, skip the fabric softener and do not iron. Wash dark colourways such as Black separately for the first few cycles. Keeping the heat low is also the best way to keep the fit you bought, since a cotton-rich fleece can shrink in a hot wash or dryer.
What are the sustainability credentials?
The self fabric of the Emblem Fleece Hoody uses organically grown cotton certified to the Organic Content Standard (OCS) and 19% recycled polyester, and is a bluesign approved material. Body, contrast and lining are stated as bluepass materials, made with processes meeting bluesign criteria. The garment is PFAS compliant and sewn in a Fair Trade Certified facility, MAS Active (Private) Limited - Asialine in Sri Lanka. Fabric and dyeing originate in Thailand, manufacture in Sri Lanka.
