What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Helly Hansen Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants are men's 3-layer waterproof, breathable shell pants for all-day movement in the mountains: backcountry skiing, hiking and mountaineering. They use LIFA INFINITY PRO™ (HELLY TECH® PROFESSIONAL), which gives long-lasting water repellency without intentionally added PFAS, so there is no need to reapply water repellency. At 490 g, with full side zippers and a RECCO® reflector, they are built to be worn on the move.

Who are the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants for?

These Helly Hansen shell pants suit skiers and mountaineers who climb under their own power and want a shell that moves with them, thanks to articulated knees and a crotch gusset. They are not for you if you want an insulated ski pant for cold resort days, a bib or high-back construction, or plenty of pockets. This is a waist-height pant with a single thigh pocket.

How warm and how protective are the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants?

The Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants are a pure shell with no insulation. The 3-layer construction with a 100% polypropylene shell fabric keeps wind and wet out and lets moisture from exertion escape, but all warmth comes from what you wear underneath. On a cold day on the lifts without base and mid layers, these pants will feel cold. On a long climb, the absence of insulation lets you regulate warmth with your own layers.

Which size should I choose for the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants?

The Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants have a regular fit. Choose your size with the size chart on this product page, and take your measurements with the base or mid layers you plan to wear underneath in mind. The adjustable waist and belt loops let you fine-tune the fit at the hips, while adjustable leg bottoms and boot hooks on the front hem keep the hems in place over your boots.

How are the Helly Hansen Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants constructed?

The Helly Hansen Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants are built as a 3-layer shell around LIFA INFINITY PRO™, the waterproof/breathable technology from Helly Hansen's HELLY TECH® PROFESSIONAL range. The shell fabric is 100% polypropylene. There is no insulation layer anywhere in the pants, so the three layers do one job: keep wind, rain and snow out while letting moisture from exertion pass through. The feature list also names a PFC-free DWR.

Are the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants suitable for backcountry skiing?

Backcountry skiing is a named use for the Helly Hansen Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants, together with hiking and mountaineering. Articulated knees and a gusset in the crotch give freedom of movement for long strides on the skin track and high steps on rough ground. Full side zippers make the pants easy to put on and take off. Boot hooks on the front leg hem and adjustable leg bottoms keep the hems in place, and a RECCO® reflector is integrated. A single thigh pocket holds small essentials.

Can you wear the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants at the ski resort?

The Helly Hansen Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants can be worn on the piste, but only with insulating layers underneath. They are a pure shell, so sitting on a chairlift on a cold day in these pants alone will feel cold. If you mainly ski at the resort and want one pant that keeps you warm without extra layers, an insulated ski pant is the better choice. The pants also sit at the waist, with an adjustable waistband and belt loops, so they offer no bib or high-back coverage.

Which jacket goes with the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants?

The Helly Hansen Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants are designed as the companion to the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Jacket. Together they form a matching shell outfit from the Odin line, worn over the base and mid layers you choose for the conditions of the day.

How do you wash the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants?

The shell of the Helly Hansen Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants is 100% polypropylene and needs technical care. Wash the pants separately with a tech wash or a washing agent for technical garments, never with regular washing detergent or fabric softener. Close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners before washing, and take the pants out of the washer promptly when the cycle ends.

What about PFAS in the Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants?

The water repellency of the Helly Hansen Odin 9 Worlds Infinity Shell Pants comes from LIFA INFINITY PRO™, which works without intentionally added PFAS. The DWR is PFC-free. Because the water repellency is long-lasting, you do not need to treat these shell pants with a reproofing product to restore it.
