More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. - Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- HELLY TECH® Performance shell, fully seam sealed
- 2-way stretch and articulated cut for free movement
- Helmet hood, RECCO® reflector and LIFE POCKET™
- 1340 g: heavy for touring or uphill skiing
- Light insulation: add a warm midlayer in deep cold
- Fixed insulation can run warm on mild spring days
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket is an insulated men's ski jacket for long days on the piste in cold, wet or windy conditions. It pairs a waterproof, breathable and windproof HELLY TECH® Performance shell with light, puffer-style PrimaLoft® Black Eco insulation. A 2-way mechanical stretch fabric and an articulated cut give you freedom of movement on every turn.
Who is the Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket for?
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket is built for resort skiers who spend full days on piste, ride lifts in wind and wet snow, and want an insulated ski jacket that moves with them. It is not the right choice for ski touring or other sustained uphill efforts. At 1340 g and with fixed insulation, it holds too much heat for climbing, and the side vents release only part of it. It is also too heavy where low weight and packability matter, and it can feel too warm on mild spring days.
How weatherproof and warm is the Swift Stretch ski jacket?
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket uses a HELLY TECH® Performance membrane that is waterproof, breathable and windproof. Every seam is sealed, and the outer fabric carries a PFC-free DWR finish. The PrimaLoft® Black Eco insulation is light. In deep cold, wear a warm midlayer underneath. Side vents and H2FLOW™ technology help regulate your temperature and let excess heat out during hard runs.
Which size should I choose for the Swift Stretch Jacket?
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket has a regular fit, with an articulated cut and 2-way stretch for movement on the slopes. Sizes run from S to XXL. Compare your measurements with the size chart on this product page. Because the insulation is light, choose a size that leaves room for a warm midlayer if you ski in deep cold.
How is the Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket constructed?
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket starts with a 100% polyester shell fabric that has 2-way mechanical stretch. The stretch comes from the weave, not from an added elastic fibre. Behind the shell sits a HELLY TECH® Performance membrane. It keeps out rain, wet snow and wind, and it lets moisture from your body escape. Every seam is sealed, so water cannot work its way in through stitch holes. A PFC-free DWR finish helps water bead off the surface. Inside, PrimaLoft® Black Eco insulation adds light, puffer-style warmth. One lining is a polyester-elastane blend that stretches along with the shell. For heat control, this insulated ski jacket uses H2FLOW™ technology and side vents that release excess heat during hard effort.
What ski-specific details does the Swift Stretch Jacket have?
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket is equipped for full resort days. The hood fits over a helmet. A high protective collar and a chin guard shield your face from wind on the chairlift. The tail drop lengthens the back hem for extra coverage when you sit on the lift or bend into a turn. Adjustable cuffs seal out snow at the wrists. You get chest and hand pockets, an inside stash pocket and a dedicated ski pass pocket. The LIFE POCKET™ helps preserve your phone battery in deep cold. A RECCO® reflector is built into the jacket. The design also features a neon colour brim.
Can you use the Swift Stretch Jacket off-piste or for ski touring?
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket is a piste jacket first. On groomed runs and long lift-served days in cold, wet or windy weather, the sealed membrane, insulation and stretch cut all work in its favour. The waterproof construction, helmet-compatible hood and RECCO® reflector make it usable for the occasional off-piste run near the resort. It stops at ski touring. At 1340 g and with fixed insulation, this ski jacket builds up too much heat on sustained climbs, and the side vents cannot release all of it. For climbing or mountaineering, where low weight and packability matter, choose a lighter shell.
What is the Swift Stretch Jacket made of, and how do you care for it?
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket has a 100% polyester shell. The main lining is 86% polyester and 14% elastane, and the second lining is 90% recycled polyester and 10% polyester. The insulation is PrimaLoft® Black Eco. To protect the membrane and the DWR finish, close all zippers and wash the jacket inside out with a detergent for technical garments. Do not soak it and do not use fabric softener. Tumble dry the jacket inside out with dryer balls until it is completely dry.
How sustainable is the Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket?
The Helly Hansen Swift Stretch Jacket is a bluesign® product. Its water-repellent finish is PFC-free, the second lining contains 90% recycled polyester, and the insulation is the PrimaLoft® Black Eco variant.
