More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- HELLY TECH® Performance membrane, fully seam sealed
- 80 g PrimaLoft® insulation with vent zips
- RECCO®, powder skirt and ski pass pocket
- Insulated: runs warm on long uphill skinning
- Built-in insulation cannot be removed
- 2-layer insulated jacket, not for alpine climbing
The Helly Hansen Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket is a men's insulated ski jacket for resort and off-piste skiing, built on a 2-layer HELLY TECH® Performance membrane that is waterproof, breathable and windproof, with fully sealed seams. It pairs PrimaLoft® insulation, including 80 g PrimaLoft® Ocean bound, with 2-way mechanical stretch fabric, articulated sleeves, an adjustable powder skirt and RECCO®.
Who is the Helly Hansen Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket for?
The Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket suits skiers who want one insulated jacket for lift-served days on the piste and in the powder beside it. The ski pass pocket, powder skirt, vent zips and fleece-lined chin guard are built for exactly that kind of day. Helly Hansen also lists backcountry skiing, ski touring and snowshoeing. On long, sustained skinning, especially in mild or spring conditions, this insulated ski jacket runs warm even with the vents open. An uninsulated shell is the better choice there. It is not designed for alpine climbing, mountaineering or expedition cold.
How warm and weatherproof is the Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket?
The Helly Hansen Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket uses synthetic insulation: PrimaLoft® Black Eco and 80 g PrimaLoft® Ocean bound, with 100% polyester fill in the body and sleeves. That is warmth for active ski days, not expedition-level insulation. The HELLY TECH® Performance membrane blocks wind and wet snow, every seam is sealed, and a PFC-free DWR treatment helps water run off the outer fabric. Vent zips let you release heat on the move. The insulation is built in and cannot be removed, so on warm spring days the jacket is less versatile than a shell.
Which size of the Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket should I choose?
The Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket comes in men's sizes S to XXL; XXL is not offered in every colour. Check the Helly Hansen men's size chart on this page against your own measurements. Articulated sleeves and 2-way stretch fabric give freedom of movement, a longer back hem (tail drop) adds coverage, and adjustable cuffs, hem and a drawstring hood let you fine-tune the fit.
How is the Helly Hansen Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket constructed?
The Helly Hansen Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket is a 2-layer ski jacket: the outer fabric and the HELLY TECH® Performance membrane work as one waterproof, breathable and windproof layer, with a 100% polyester lining on the inside. Between them sits PrimaLoft® insulation. The feature list names PrimaLoft® Black Eco and 80 g PrimaLoft® Ocean bound, and both the body and sleeve insulation are 100% polyester. All seams are fully sealed, so water cannot find its way in through the stitching. The outer fabric has 2-way mechanical stretch, which means the stretch comes from the weave rather than from added elastane, and it is solution-dyed with e.dye®. A PFC-free DWR treatment on the surface makes rain and wet snow bead off before it can saturate the face fabric.
Can you ski off-piste in the Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket?
The Helly Hansen Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket has the details that matter once you leave the groomed runs. The adjustable powder skirt seals the gap between jacket and trousers in deep snow. RECCO® is integrated for detection by organised rescue services. The hood adjusts with an internal drawstring and has a neon-coloured brim, and the chin guard is lined with soft fleece. Articulated sleeves keep your arms free when you pole or reach. On the lift and at the hut, the storage is practical: a dedicated ski pass pocket, a chest pocket with a secure zip, hand pockets with a brushed lining, an inner chest pocket and LIFE POCKET™. An external hanging loop keeps the jacket off the floor in the hut.
Is the Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket suitable for ski touring?
Helly Hansen lists ski touring and backcountry skiing for the Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket, but the built-in PrimaLoft® insulation sets clear limits. On a short climb to an off-piste line, the vent zips handle the extra heat. On long, sustained ascents, and especially in mild or spring conditions, this insulated ski jacket will run warm, and you cannot take the insulation out. If touring is your main use, an uninsulated 3-layer shell is more flexible for layering. The Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket also has no harness- or climbing-specific features, so it is not the right piece for alpine climbing or mountaineering.
What is the Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket made of and how do you care for it?
The lining and the insulation in body and sleeves of the Helly Hansen Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket are 100% polyester, and the shell is a solution-dyed 2-way stretch fabric. Synthetic insulation keeps much of its loft when damp and can be machine washed. Close all zips and hook-and-loop fastenings first, skip fabric softener, do not soak the jacket and wash dark colours separately. Tumble drying reactivates the water-repellent treatment; take the jacket out of the dryer promptly and never iron over the print.
How sustainable is the Helly Hansen Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket?
The Powdreamer 2.0 Jacket is a bluesign® product and uses Oceanbound recycled materials. The DWR treatment is PFC-free, the fabric is solution-dyed with e.dye®, and the insulation comes from PrimaLoft® Black Eco and PrimaLoft® Ocean bound.
