What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 3-layer HELLY TECH® Professional, fully seam sealed
  • Life Pocket™ helps your phone battery last in the cold
  • Enlarged pocket for radio, plus RECCO® reflectors
  • Pure shell with no insulation; warmth needs layers
  • Ski-specific build, not made for climbing
  • Not an insulated all-in-one resort jacket

The Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket is a women's 3-layer hardshell ski jacket for experienced freeriders, built for both inbounds and backcountry skiing. It combines a HELLY TECH® Professional membrane with LIFA INFINITY™ technology, fully sealed seams and RECCO® reflectors, and adds a Life Pocket™ that helps keep your phone battery alive longer in the cold. Helly Hansen developed it with input from professional skier Madison Rose Ostergren.

Who is the Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket for?

This women's shell jacket suits skiers who spend their days off-piste or in the backcountry and prefer to control warmth with layers. It also works on the resort and for snowshoeing. The Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket is not for skiers who want one warm, insulated jacket to wear without layering. It is also not designed for climbing or technical mountaineering. The powder skirt, tail drop and ski pass pocket show it is built around skiing.

How waterproof and breathable is the Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket?

The Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket uses a 3-layer construction with a HELLY TECH® Professional membrane and LIFA INFINITY™ technology for waterproofness and breathability. All seams are fully sealed, and the outer fabric has a DWR treatment. The zippers are YKK AquaGuard® and YKK VISLON® AquaGuard®. Underarm ventilation zippers let you release heat on a climb or after a hard run. The jacket has no insulation, so its warmth depends entirely on what you wear underneath.

Which size of the Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket should I choose?

The Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket is cut for movement, with articulated sleeves, no shoulder seams, a tail drop at the back, thumb holes, and adjustable cuffs and hem. This ski shell jacket is worn over insulating layers, so choose your size with your usual mid layer in mind. A zipped fan at the collar adjusts the front to what you wear underneath. Compare your measurements with the size chart on this product page before you order.

How is the Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket constructed?

The Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket is a 3-layer hardshell with a HELLY TECH® Professional membrane and a 100% polyester shell fabric. Helly Hansen pairs the membrane with LIFA INFINITY™ technology for waterproofness and breathability. Every seam is fully sealed, and a Durable Water Repellency (DWR) treatment makes water bead on the surface. The front closes with a 2-way zipper backed by a full inner front placket, and all zippers are YKK AquaGuard® or YKK VISLON® AquaGuard®. The shoulders have reinforcement fabric, and the sleeves are set without shoulder seams.

How does the Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket protect around the neck and head?

The Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket has a high protective collar lined with brushed tricot inside the collar and on the neck, plus an anti-chafe chin guard. The hood adjusts with a drawcord. A zipped fan in the collar opens the front construction so the jacket sits comfortably over thicker layers without straining the zipper.

How does the Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket perform off-piste and in the backcountry?

The Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket is equipped for freeride and backcountry days. A removable stretch powder skirt keeps snow out in deep conditions and comes off when you do not need it. An enlarged pocket holds a radio or a larger phone. The phone leash and the phone holder inside the pocket keep your phone secure. The Life Pocket™ helps your phone battery last longer in the cold. RECCO® reflectors make you searchable with RECCO® detectors. The underarm ventilation zippers help you regulate temperature on the way up. The limits are clear. This shell jacket provides no warmth of its own, so cold lift rides call for a warm mid layer. Its feature set is built for skiing rather than climbing or general mountaineering.

What pockets does the Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket have?

The Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket has two hand pockets, two chest pockets, an inner chest pocket with zipper, an internal mesh pocket and a dedicated ski pass pocket. The enlarged radio pocket and the Life Pocket™ come on top of these. An internal hanging loop lets you hang the jacket to dry.

What is the Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket made of and how do you wash it?

The shell of the Helly Hansen Ridge Infinity Shell Jacket is 100% polyester. Wash the jacket separately, with all zippers closed and inside a laundry bag. Use a washing agent for technical garments and never use fabric softener. Take the jacket out of the washer promptly and do not wring it. Tumble dry the jacket afterwards, because heat reactivates the water repellent treatment on the outer fabric.
