What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 60 g PrimaLoft Black, extra insulation seat and knees
  • Side-entry YKK zip, double placket and drop seat
  • Thigh vents with mesh release heat on the move
  • Fixed 60 g fill runs warm on climbs and mild days
  • 2-way stretch shell, not 4-way stretch
  • Bib with suspenders: more to put on than waist pants

The Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants are women's insulated ski bib pants for resort skiing on cold days. They combine a waterproof, breathable HELLY TECH Performance construction with 60 g PrimaLoft Black insulation, plus added insulation on the seat and knees. As the bib version of Helly Hansen's insulated Legendary ski pant, they add adjustable suspenders, a side-entry YKK zip and a drop seat.

Who are the Legendary Insulated Bib Pants for?

The Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants suit women who ski mostly on the piste and want warmth built into their ski pants. They are not made for ski touring or long climbs. The 60 g fill is fixed and runs warm on the ascent, even with the vents open. Choose a different model if you prefer an uninsulated shell bib and manage warmth with your own layers. The same applies if you need a technical bib for high-alpine terrain or for use with a climbing harness.

How warm are the Legendary Insulated Bib Pants?

The Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants use 60 g PrimaLoft Black, a light synthetic insulation made from 100% recycled polyester. Added insulation sits at the seat and knees. This level of insulation suits cold resort days. On mild spring days or during high-output skiing the bib can feel warm. Mechanical thigh-vent zippers with mesh then let heat escape. The insulation cannot be removed, so the vents are the built-in way to adjust warmth.

Which size should I choose in the Legendary Insulated Bib Pants?

The Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants have a regular fit. Adjustable suspenders and an elastic waist let you fine-tune the fit at the torso and waist. Articulated knees and the 2-way stretch shell keep you mobile. The legs are cut to go over ski boots and finish in boot gaiters with gripper. Pick your size with the Helly Hansen women's pants size chart on this page.

How do HELLY TECH Performance and PrimaLoft Black work together in the Legendary Insulated Bib Pants?

The Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants combine three elements. The shell fabric is 100% polyester with 2-way mechanical stretch and a water-repellent treatment. The HELLY TECH Performance construction makes the bib waterproof and breathable. It keeps snow and wet out and lets moisture vapour from your body escape. For warmth, 60 g PrimaLoft Black insulation in 100% recycled polyester provides the core layer of heat, with extra insulation added at the seat and knees. Because the insulation is fixed, temperature control comes from the mechanical thigh-vent zippers. Open them and the mesh ventilation behind the zips releases warm air.

How do the Legendary Insulated Bib Pants perform on the piste and off-piste?

The Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants are designed first for resort skiing: groomed runs, repeated chairlift rides and cold days on the mountain. The lower leg is reinforced, and boot gaiters with gripper sit over your ski boots. Articulated knees and the 2-way stretch shell give freedom of movement in turns. You can take the bib off-piste, where the bib cut, gaiters and reinforced lower leg remain useful. It is still an insulated resort design and not a dedicated freeride bib. It stops at ski touring, where 60 g of insulation runs warm on long ascents, and at mountaineering and climbing, where no harness-compatible or high-alpine features are built in. It is also not a race suit replacement.

How easy are the Legendary Insulated Bib Pants to put on and take off?

A bib with suspenders is more to put on and take off than waist ski pants. The Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants address this with a side-entry opening. A YKK side zip with a double placket opens up the side for getting in and out. The drop seat construction means you do not need to take the whole bib off for a bathroom break. Adjustable suspenders and an elastic waist hold the bib in place. A chest pocket and hand pockets give you storage. The bib comes in Black and in two all-over prints: Reflections AOP and Pebble Broxburn Plaid AOP.

What are the Legendary Insulated Bib Pants made of, and how should you wash them?

The shell of the Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants is 100% polyester, an additional fabric is 100% polyamide, and the body insulation is 100% recycled polyester. Before washing, close all zippers and hook-and-loop fasteners. Wash the bib separately, do not soak it and do not use fabric softener. Tumble dry the garment after washing to reactivate the water-repellent treatment on the outside.

What sustainability credentials do the Legendary Insulated Bib Pants have?

The Helly Hansen Legendary Insulated Bib Pants are a bluesign product. The body insulation is made from 100% recycled polyester.
