What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • LIFALOFT™ insulation with a listed weight of 450 g
  • Layers under a shell or works alone on dry, cool days
  • PFC-free DWR and bluesign® main material
  • Water-resistant only: needs a shell in rain or sleet
  • A midlayer, not a warm ski jacket for cold lift days
  • Hand pockets only, no chest or ski-pass pocket

The Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket is a women's hybrid insulator jacket with synthetic LIFALOFT™ insulation. It is designed to be worn as a midlayer under a ski shell or on its own in dry, cool winter weather. It combines a lightweight, windproof, water-resistant outer fabric with stretch panels and has a listed weight of 450 g.

Who is the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket for?

The women's Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket suits skiers who want an insulating layer under their shell. It also works as a light jacket for ski touring, backcountry days, hiking and camping. It is not meant to be worn alone in rain, sleet or wet snow, because the fabric is water-resistant with a DWR treatment rather than waterproof. It does not replace a fully insulated ski jacket on cold, lift-served piste days. It is also not an outer layer for deep-powder freeride, because it has no snow skirt.

How warm and weather-resistant is the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket?

Warmth in the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket comes from LIFALOFT™ insulation made of 70% polypropylene and 30% polyester. This is synthetic insulation, not down. The outer fabric blocks wind and has a PFC-free DWR finish that repels light moisture. In wet weather you wear a waterproof shell over it. Elastic cuffs, an elastic hood and an adjustable hem drawcord close the jacket at the wrists, head and hem.

Which size of the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket should I choose?

The Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket has a regular fit with stretch panels. It is sized on Helly Hansen's women's midlayer size chart. Compare your body measurements with the size chart on this product page. The jacket is made to go under a shell, so check that your outer jacket has room for this extra layer.

How is the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket constructed?

The Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket uses a hybrid construction that combines LIFALOFT™ insulation with stretch panels in one women's insulator jacket. Two shell fabrics are used. The main shell is 100% polyamide, a lightweight, windproof and water-resistant fabric. The second shell fabric blends 50% polyamide and 41% polyester with 9% elastane for stretch. The outer surface carries a PFC-free Durable Water Repellency treatment. This makes the jacket water-resistant rather than waterproof. It is an insulating layer that relies on a shell for protection against rain and wet snow.

Is the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket suitable for ski touring?

The Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket is intended for ski touring and backcountry skiing, as well as hiking and camping. The stretch panels give an optimised fit. The windproof outer fabric helps on exposed ridges and during breaks in dry weather. On the piste, the jacket does its job as the warm midlayer under a ski shell. On cold, static days, such as long lift rides, it is not enough on its own. The two zipped hand pockets have a brushed lining and are the only pockets. There is no chest pocket, inner pocket or ski-pass pocket, so your pass and phone go in your shell. The hood closes around the face with an elastic binding. A separate hood adjuster is not part of the feature set.

What is the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket made of, and how do I care for it?

The Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket has a main shell of 100% polyamide. The second shell fabric is 50% polyamide, 41% polyester and 9% elastane. The insulation is 70% polypropylene and 30% polyester. To care for the jacket, follow these steps:

  • Close all zippers before washing.
  • Wash dark colours separately.
  • Do not use fabric softener.
  • Remove the jacket promptly from the dryer.
  • Do not iron over the print or the raised logo.

An internal hanging loop lets you hang the jacket up to dry after a day out.

How sustainable is the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket?

The water-repellent finish on the Helly Hansen LIFALOFT™ Hybrid Insulator Jacket is PFC-free, so it repels moisture without perfluorinated chemicals. The main material of the jacket is bluesign®.
