A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. - Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- Polartec Power Stretch with Hardface nylon face
- Nylon panels at shoulders, lower arms and waist
- FC0 DWR finish, no intentionally added PFAS
- No membrane: DWR only, not for rain or wet snow
- 445 g is heavy for a fleece pullover
- Relaxed cut runs large; consider one size down
The Arc'teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover is a men's fleece mid layer built for cool, dry climbing days, combining a Polartec Power Stretch body with nylon reinforcement panels at the shoulders, lower arms and waist. It carries no membrane and weighs 445 g, so it is a durable, stretchy insulating layer rather than a weather shell. The smooth Hardface nylon surface is what sets it apart: it resists abrasion and pilling where a pack, a rope or rock contact wears normal fleece down.
Who is the Arc'teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover for?
This pullover suits climbers who want a hard-wearing fleece with a relaxed cut and almost no features: one zippered chest pocket, an adjustable hem draw cord, a crew neck and nothing else. Arc'teryx lists it for alpine climbing, rock climbing and bouldering. It is not a ski-specific mid layer, there is no hood, no powder skirt and no avalanche reflector, and at 445 g it is heavy if you count grams on fast-and-light days.
How warm and weather-resistant is the Konseal Crew Neck Pullover?
Warmth comes from a single layer of Polartec Power Stretch jersey velour with no insulation fill, which places the Arc'teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover in midweight territory: comfortable while you are moving in cool air, not enough on its own when you stand still in the cold. The air-permeable fleece breathes well and the FC0 DWR finish, free from intentionally added PFAS, sheds light moisture. Rain, wet snow or sustained precipitation need a shell over the top.
Which size should you choose?
Arc'teryx cuts the Konseal Crew Neck Pullover in a relaxed fit, loose through chest, waist, hip and thigh. Customer feedback consistently reports it running large, so if you want a trimmer mid layer, or plan to wear it under a close-fitting shell, take one size down. Here it is offered in M and L; check the men's tops size chart on this page before ordering.
How is the Arc'teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover constructed?
The body of the Arc'teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover is Polartec Power Stretch with Hardface Technology, a jersey velour of 88% polyester and 12% elastane. The inside is a brushed fleece face that traps warm air against a base layer; the outside is a smooth nylon surface that resists abrasion and pilling and slides under an outer layer instead of catching on it. Contrast panels at the shoulders, lower arms and waist are Fortius Air 50 nylon stretch plain weave at 112 gsm (93% nylon, 7% elastane), placed exactly where a pack harness, a rope and a climbing harness rub. Articulated patterning and gusseted underarms keep the sleeves from riding up when you reach overhead, and an adjustable hem draw cord closes out draughts.
Is the Konseal Crew Neck Pullover suitable for climbing and for skiing?
Climbing is what this garment was designed around. On cool, dry days the Arc'teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover works as a standalone top on the approach and at the belay, and the stretch fabric moves with you on rock and in alpine terrain. Where it stops is weather and snow sport. There is no membrane of any kind, only a DWR finish on an air-permeable fleece, so persistent rain or wet snow soaks through. Arc'teryx positions the Konseal Crew as a climbing piece rather than a ski piece, and it carries none of the snowsport details a resort or touring layer usually has. As a ski mid layer it is a compromise, and the relaxed cut makes it awkward under a trim ski jacket.
What is the Konseal Crew Neck Pullover made of and how do you wash it?
Polyester and elastane in the body, nylon and elastane in the reinforcement panels: both are synthetics that dry quickly and tolerate frequent washing. Fabric and dyeing are United States, manufacture is in El Salvador. Machine wash the Arc'teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover on low with dark colours separately, use a mild technical detergent and skip fabric softener, which clogs the fleece and flattens its loft. Double rinse, then tumble dry on low. When water stops beading on the face fabric, refresh the finish with a durable water repellent treatment.
How sustainable is this fleece pullover?
The Arc'teryx Konseal Crew Neck Pullover is made with materials produced through processes that meet bluesign criteria, both for the body fleece and the contrast panels, and it is Fair Trade Certified. The FC0 DWR finish is free from intentionally added PFAS and the garment is PFAS compliant. Like all synthetic fleece, the fabric can release plastic microfibres during washing; washing less often and in full loads reduces that.
