A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 240 g/m² combed cotton jersey, hard-wearing
- Gusseted underarms for reach overhead on rock
- Continuous neck and shoulder seams, less rub
- 100% cotton: soaks up sweat, dries slowly
- Only stocked in M and L
- Can pull across a fuller bust, even sized up
The Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Bird Crew Neck Shirt LS Women's is a heavyweight long-sleeve cotton tee for climbing, bouldering and hiking in dry weather. The body is 240 g/m² combed cotton jersey with a Wordmark graphic on the chest and a Bird graphic across the back. Gusseted underarms and a relaxed cut give it reach overhead that a plain cotton long sleeve does not have.
Who is this shirt for, and who should skip it?
Choose the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Bird Crew Neck Shirt LS if you want a hard-wearing, comfortable cotton long sleeve for dry-weather cragging, boulder sessions, mild hikes, travel and everyday wear. It is not a technical ski layer: there is no insulation, no membrane and no wicking synthetic or merino fibre, so leave it at home for high-output days, wet weather and snow sports.
How warm and how breathable is a 240 g/m² cotton knit?
At 240 g/m² this is a heavyweight jersey, noticeably more substantial than a thin tee, and the whole shirt weighs 290 g. Cotton is air-permeable and comfortable against the skin in mild conditions, but it absorbs sweat and dries slowly, so it stays wet once you work hard in it. If you run warm in summer heat, a lighter knit will suit you better.
Which size should you choose?
Arc'teryx cuts the Kragg Cotton Bird Crew Neck Shirt LS Women's in a relaxed fit: loose through chest, waist, hip and thigh, with room to pull a thin layer underneath. Here it is stocked in M and L only. Chest is the area to check, since several wearers report the shirt pulling across a fuller bust, so measure your chest and compare it with the women's tops size chart on this page before you order.
How is the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Bird Crew Neck Shirt LS constructed?
This is a single-layer garment: one 240 g/m² combed cotton jersey body, no lining, no membrane, no coating. The detailing is where the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Bird Crew Neck Shirt LS separates itself from a standard cotton tee. Continuous seams run along the back of the neck, the shoulders and the sleeves, finished with full binding, so there are fewer seam ends sitting under a pack strap. Gusseted underarms add fabric where the sleeve meets the body, which keeps the hem from lifting when you reach high. The crew neck is finished with a knit collar. Total weight is 290 g.
Does the Kragg Cotton Bird Crew Neck Shirt work for climbing days?
Arc'teryx lists this shirt for rock climbing, bouldering and hiking, and that is exactly where it belongs: dry rock, mild temperatures, a relaxed day at the crag or on the trail, then straight into the evening. The gussets and the loose cut let you move without the fabric binding. Where it stops is anything wet or fast. Cotton gives no wind or water protection and holds moisture once you sweat, and 290 g is heavy if you are counting grams for a fast-and-light push. For skiing, ski touring and freeride it is the wrong tool entirely.
What is the fabric, and how do you care for it?
The body of the Arc'teryx Kragg Cotton Bird Crew Neck Shirt LS Women's is 100% cotton in a combed jersey knit, which gives a soft hand and a dense, hard-wearing surface at 240 g/m². Wash it on a low machine cycle and tumble dry gentle on low. Skip bleach, dry cleaning and fabric softener, since softener coats the fibres. Iron on a low setting if needed. Wash the Black / White colourway separately from lighter laundry. Two colourways are offered: a solid black body with a white chest Wordmark and white Bird back graphic, and an off-white, slightly warm White Light body on which the white graphics read low-contrast.
What does Arc'teryx state about sustainability here?
The shirt is PFAS compliant and carries Fair Trade Certified status. Fabric production, dyeing and manufacture all take place in Colombia, with sewing at NICOLE S. A. S.
