What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance Anima 3L Jacket Women is a three-layer HIPE® shell jacket built for resort skiing, with a 10,000 mm water column and fully seam-sealed construction. It is an uninsulated shell: you get full weather protection plus ski-specific details, and you choose the warmth underneath. The three-layer HIPE® fabric has 2-way stretch, so the jacket follows your movement on the piste.

Who is the Anima 3L Jacket Women for?

This jacket suits the resort skier who wants a fully taped waterproof shell with a helmet-compatible hood, a snow skirt and a ski pass pocket, and who prefers to regulate warmth with her own midlayer. It also works as a winter jacket in wet and windy weather and for occasional off-piste turns at the resort. It is not a standalone warm jacket, and it is not the right choice for high-output ski touring or for technical climbing, where a resort cut with a fixed snow skirt interferes with a harness.

How waterproof and breathable is the Peak Performance Anima 3L Jacket?

The HIPE® membrane carries a 10,000 mm water column and 10,000 g/m²/24h breathability, and every seam is sealed. A YKK AquaGuard® coil zipper closes the front, and zippered vents under the sleeves dump heat on warm spring days. Those figures sit in the mid range for ski shells, below 20,000 mm / 20,000 g/m²/24h, so this is a jacket for normal winter weather and lift-served days rather than for prolonged heavy rain or multi-day wet trips.

Which size should you choose in the Anima 3L Jacket Women?

The Anima 3L Jacket Women has a regular fit that sits at the hip with a slightly dropped hem, cut to go over a base layer and a midlayer. It comes in XS, S, M, L and XL. Check the size chart on this page before ordering, and check it again if you plan to wear a thick insulated midlayer underneath. The hem drawcord and the Velcro sleeve adjusters let you close the jacket down over gloves and ski pants.

What does the three-layer HIPE® construction of this jacket do?

HIPE® is Peak Performance's own membrane, made of 100% thermoplastic polyurethane. In the Anima 3L Jacket Women it is bonded between a 100% recycled polyester face fabric and a 100% recycled polyester backer, so the three layers form one laminate without a separate lining. That construction is what makes the shell both waterproof at 10,000 mm and breathable at 10,000 g/m²/24h, and it keeps the inside of the jacket dry against your midlayer. All seams are sealed, the front runs on a YKK AquaGuard® coil zipper, and the fabric has 2-way stretch so the shell does not pull when you reach or ride a lift bar.

Is the Anima 3L Jacket Women suitable for ski touring?

On the piste, the Peak Performance Anima 3L Jacket Women has everything a resort day asks for: a fixed, ski-helmet-compatible hood that adjusts in height and width, a laminated brim that keeps snow off your goggles, a goggle wiper, a ski pass pocket, zippered hand, chest and inner pockets, and a fixed snow skirt that snaps into compatible Peak Performance ski pants. That same package is where it stops for touring. A 10,000 g/m²/24h breathability rating and a snow skirt you cannot remove limit it on long, high-output climbs, and the resort-oriented cut sits awkwardly under a climbing harness. For occasional off-piste runs from the lift it is well covered; for uphill days, a lighter and more breathable shell is the better tool.

What is the Anima 3L Jacket Women made of and how do you wash it?

The shell face and backer are both 100% recycled polyester, with a 100% thermoplastic polyurethane membrane between them. Polyester shells handle machine washing well: wash at 40 °C with similar colours, close all zippers first, and skip bleach, fabric softener, dry cleaning and professional wet cleaning. Softener in particular coats the face fabric and blocks water from beading off. After washing, tumble dry on low or iron on a low temperature to reactivate the water-repellent treatment, and line dry in the shade if you prefer not to use a dryer.

How sustainable is this Peak Performance shell jacket?

Both layers of the face fabric in the Anima 3L Jacket Women are 100% recycled polyester, and the jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS. The three-layer laminate and fully sealed seams are also what keep the jacket serviceable over many seasons, which is the part of durability that matters most in practice.

3L
3L
3L refers to a three-layer construction in which the outer fabric, membrane, and a thin backer layer are combined into one unified layer. This design offers excellent protection against wind and water while maintaining high breathability. Because 3L is unlined, it feels light and flexible and functions as a versatile shell that allows your warmth and comfort to be determined by the layers you wear underneath. As a result, 3L provides a well-balanced combination of protection, freedom of movement, and comfort in winter conditions.
