More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- HIPE® 10,000 mm membrane, fully seam sealed
- 80 g/m² body fill: no midlayer jacket needed
- Snow skirt snaps into Peak Performance ski pants
- 10,000 mm is resort level, not a storm shell
- Fixed insulation: too warm for touring uphill
- Hood adjusts in width only, not front to back
The Peak Performance Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket is a women's insulated two-layer ski jacket for full days on the piste. A HIPE® membrane rated 10,000 mm water column is paired with body-mapped synthetic insulation — 80 g/m² through the body and sleeves, 60 g/m² in the hood — so one jacket replaces a separate shell and midlayer. The colour-blocked panels and back print are what set it apart from a plain resort jacket.
Who is this jacket for?
The Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket suits a skier who rides lift-served terrain all day in cold, wet weather and wants the ski details built in: snow skirt, ski pass pocket, helmet-compatible hood and a RECCO® reflector. It is not built for uphill work — the insulation is fixed and cannot be stripped out for touring or spring slush — and 10,000 mm with a two-layer construction is resort protection rather than a multi-day storm shell.
How warm and how waterproof is the Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket?
The HIPE® membrane of 100% thermoplastic polyurethane gives 10,000 mm water column and 10,000 g/m²/24h breathability, with every seam sealed. Insulation is synthetic sheet in 100% recycled polyester: 80 g/m² over the body, 80 g/m² in the sleeves, 60 g/m² in the hood. That is warm enough for cold chairlift days in a base layer and midlayer, and it vents through zips under the sleeves when the sun comes out.
Which size should you choose?
Peak Performance cuts the Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket regular: it sits at the hip with a dropped hem at the back and leaves room for a base layer, a midlayer and back protection. Velcro straps at the cuffs and a drawcord at the hem fine-tune the fit. Sizes run XS to XL, with XS offered in Black only. Compare your measurements against the size chart on this page before ordering.
How is the Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket constructed?
The Peak Performance Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket uses a two-layer build: a 75D midweight face fabric of 100% recycled polyester with 2-way stretch, bonded to the brand's own HIPE® membrane of 100% thermoplastic polyurethane, with a separate lining of 100% recycled polyester hanging behind it. The rating is 10,000 mm water column and 10,000 g/m²/24h breathability, and the jacket is fully seam sealed. Insulation is a body-mapped synthetic sheet: more fill where you lose heat sitting on a lift, less in the hood. A two-layer jacket with a loose lining is heavier and less packable than a three-layer shell — this one is made to be worn, not stuffed into a pack.
Is it suitable for off-piste and ski touring?
On the piste the Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket covers the whole day: a fixed snow skirt that snaps into Peak Performance ski pants, a ski pass pocket, zippered hand pockets, an inner pocket and a mesh stash pocket, elastic wrist gaiters, articulated sleeves and a removable goggle wiper cloth. The hood takes a ski helmet and has a laminated brim, though it adjusts in width only and not front to back. A RECCO® reflector makes you findable by rescue services, which also covers the occasional off-piste run inside the resort boundary. Where it stops: high-output uphill skiing, where 80 g/m² of fixed insulation and 10,000 g/m²/24h breathability will overheat you, and climbing, where you want a light packable shell and harness-friendly pockets.
What is the Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket made of and how do you wash it?
Face fabric, lining and insulation are all 100% recycled polyester, with the membrane in thermoplastic polyurethane — a synthetic jacket that keeps insulating when it gets damp, unlike down. Machine wash at 40°C on a delicate cycle, inside out, zippers closed, with similar colours and no fabric softener. Take the goggle wiper cloth out first. Use a technical detergent and tumble dry low afterwards: heat is what reactivates the water repellent treatment on the face fabric. Remove the jacket from the machine promptly and, if you prefer to air dry, line dry in the shade. No bleach, no iron, no dry cleaning.
How sustainable is this jacket?
The Anima Blocked Insulated Jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS, and the shell face, the lining and the insulation are each 100% recycled polyester. The adjustable hem, cuff straps and replaceable goggle cloth are the kind of details that keep a ski jacket in service for more than a couple of seasons.
