What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • Responsible Down Standard certified down fill
  • Packs down small, fits under a shell jacket
  • Shell and lining both 100% recycled polyamide
  • No membrane or taped seams: wet days need a shell
  • Elastic hood, hem and cuffs, no adjustable cords
  • No powder skirt or ski features for piste use

The Peak Performance Down Hood Jacket Men is a lightweight, packable down jacket with a hood, built to be the warm layer in cool, dry conditions — worn on its own in town or under a shell jacket in the mountains. It is filled with down (80% duck down, 20% duck feather) and built from a 100% recycled polyamide shell and lining, so it compresses into a small pack and still loses little bulk under an outer layer.

Who is this down jacket for?

The Down Hood Jacket Men suits anyone who wants one down layer for low- to mid-intensity use: walking, travelling, commuting and dry hiking days, plus duty as the insulation layer under a hardshell jacket. It is not a ski jacket for the slopes on its own — there is no powder skirt and no ski-specific hardware — and it is not the layer for high-output efforts, where a down-filled, downproof shell traps more moisture than a breathable midlayer.

How much weather protection does it give?

This is an insulation piece, not a weather shell. The woven recycled polyamide face fabric keeps the down contained and takes a water-repellent finish that you maintain with a technical detergent, but there is no membrane and no taped seams. In rain or wet snow, wear it under a shell jacket: down loses loft once it is wet. The hood, hem and cuffs use elastic binding, which keeps the silhouette clean but means you cannot cinch the openings shut in wind.

Which size should you choose?

The Peak Performance Down Hood Jacket Men has a regular cut, available in S, M, L, XL and 2XL. There is room for a base layer and a thin midlayer underneath, and the low-bulk down means it still fits under most shell jackets. Check the size chart on this page against your chest and sleeve measurements; if you plan to wear it mainly as a liner under a tight-fitting shell, stay with your usual size rather than going up.

How is the Peak Performance Down Hood Jacket Men constructed?

The jacket is a down liner: a downproof woven face fabric in 100% recycled polyamide, a 100% recycled polyamide lining, and a fill of 80% duck down and 20% duck feather between them. Down traps air rather than relying on a bulky batting, which is why the Down Hood Jacket Men compresses small and adds warmth without adding thickness under a shell. The hood is finished with elastic binding at the edge, as are the hem and the cuffs, so the jacket seals around you by stretch rather than by drawcords.

Is it suitable for skiing or ski touring?

On the mountain, treat the Peak Performance Down Hood Jacket Men as the insulation layer, not the outer layer. Under a hardshell jacket it adds warmth on cold lift days and at rest stops, and it packs away into a backpack when the temperature rises. It is not built to ski in on its own: there is no stated waterproofness, no powder skirt and no pit zips, and the down-filled construction moves little moisture during hard climbing or fast laps. For dry, cool hiking, walking and travel it works as a standalone jacket with a hood, which is where most owners will use it most of the time.

What is it made of and how do you wash it?

Shell and lining are both 100% recycled polyamide; the filling is 80% duck down and 20% duck feather. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle with similar colours, close the zippers first, and use a technical detergent rather than a regular one so the water-repellent finish on the face fabric keeps working. Skip fabric softener, bleach, ironing, dry cleaning and professional wet cleaning. Take the jacket out of the machine promptly and tumble dry it inside out on low with a few tennis balls for at least five hours, pulling it out every half hour to shake the down back into an even loft. Done properly, the down regains its full volume; skipped, it clumps and the jacket loses warmth.

What are the sustainability credentials?

The down in the Peak Performance Down Hood Jacket Men is certified to the Responsible Down Standard, and the jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS. Both the shell and the lining use 100% recycled polyamide rather than virgin fibre. The down carries sterilization permit no. PA 9900(CN).
