What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance Elevate Insulated Hood Jacket Women is a mid-weight synthetic insulated jacket with 133 g/m² of insulation in the body and 60 g/m² in the hood, made to work both as a standalone jacket and as an insulating layer under a shell. Shell, lining and filling are all 100% recycled polyester, with a PFC-free durable water repellent finish and no intentionally added PFAS. It carries an ISPO Award 2024, cited for its repairability and material choices, and comes with a repair patch.

Who is this jacket for?

This is for a woman who wants one insulated jacket for town, the walk-in and ski days, and who accepts water repellency instead of a waterproof membrane. The Peak Performance Elevate Insulated Hood Jacket Women is not a storm jacket: there is no powder skirt, no snow-sealed cuffs and no stated waterproofing, so sustained rain or wet snow is outside its range. The hood is fixed and only width-adjustable, with no stated helmet compatibility.

How warm is the Elevate Insulated Hood Jacket?

The insulation is 100% recycled polyester synthetic sheet insulation: 133 g/m² through the body and 60 g/m² in the hood, over a ripstop face fabric and a recycled polyester lining. That is mid-weight warmth — enough for dry, cool to cold days on the move and for layering under a shell when the temperature drops — rather than expedition-level warmth for standing still in deep cold. Stated weight is 510 grams.

Which size should you choose?

The cut is a regular fit, wide enough to sit over a midlayer and still slim enough to wear under a shell. Check the size chart on this page against your own measurements before ordering. If you mainly want it as an outer layer over a thicker midlayer, the larger of two sizes gives more room. Sizes run XS to XL, with XS offered in Black and Sierra Sand only.

How is the Peak Performance Elevate Insulated Hood Jacket built?

The Peak Performance Elevate Insulated Hood Jacket Women is a quilted synthetic insulated jacket rather than a membrane shell. A ripstop face fabric in 100% recycled polyester sits over synthetic sheet insulation, also 100% recycled polyester, held in place by quilting in the brand's P-logo pattern. A separate recycled polyester lining runs on the inside. The face fabric carries a PFC-free durable water repellent treatment, so light showers and dry snow bead off, and the jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS. Closure is a full-front reversed YKK coil zipper with a chin guard; the hem has an adjustable drawcord and the cuffs use elastic binding.

Is this jacket suitable for skiing?

On ski days the Elevate Insulated Hood Jacket works best as the layer under your shell — 133 g/m² body insulation adds real warmth without the bulk of a resort jacket, and the regular fit leaves it compatible with a shell over the top. Worn on its own it suits the drive, the lift queue on a dry day, après and the walk home. It stops where the weather turns: there is no powder skirt, no snow-sealed cuffs and no water column, so a full day in wet snow or sustained rain calls for a hardshell jacket instead. The same applies to high-output uphill work, where a lighter, faster-drying insulator makes more sense. Two zippered hand pockets are the only pockets; there is no chest or internal pocket.

What is it made of and how do you wash it?

Everything that matters is one fibre: 100% recycled polyester in both shell panels, the lining and the filling. That keeps the jacket easy to care for and the ripstop weave adds tear resistance where a pack strap or a lift edge catches. Machine wash at 40 °C, inside out, with zippers closed and a technical detergent that keeps the water repellent finish working. Skip fabric softener, bleach, ironing and dry cleaning. Tumble dry low or line drip dry in the shade, and take it out of the machine promptly so the insulation does not stay compressed.

What makes it a more responsible choice?

Shell, lining and filling are entirely recycled polyester, and the treatment is PFC-free with no intentionally added PFAS. Production is designed to cut fabric waste, and the construction is intended to be easier to repair — a repair patch is included in the box for the first rip. The jacket was named an ISPO Award Winner 2024 for exactly these sustainability and repairability measures.
