More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

- 700 fill power 90/10 duck down, packs small
- Works under a shell or as a standalone jacket
- Shell and lining 100% recycled polyamide, RDS down
- Water repellent only: no water column, no taped seams
- No pit zips: too warm for touring ascents
- Elastic cuffs and hem are not adjustable
The Peak Performance Frost Down Hood Jacket Women is a lightweight, packable down jacket filled with 700 fill power 90/10 duck down, built to work either as an insulation layer under a ski shell or as a standalone jacket in dry cold. Its quilted construction and recycled polyamide shell keep the volume low, so it still slides under a hardshell. The shell is windproof and water repellent, not waterproof.
Who is the Frost Down Hood Jacket Women for?
This jacket suits a skier who wants one warm layer that does two jobs: added insulation under a shell on cold resort days, and a jacket on its own in town, at the trailhead or while travelling. The Peak Performance Frost Down Hood Jacket Women is not a ski shell, since it has no powder skirt and no stated waterproofness, and it is not the layer for high-output touring ascents, where down of this type runs too warm and cannot be vented.
How warm is the Frost Down Hood Jacket Women?
Warmth comes from duck down with 700 fill power in a 90/10 down-to-feather ratio, held in place by quilt construction across body, sleeves and hood. Down at 700 fill power lofts well for its weight, which is why this Peak Performance down jacket compresses small enough to carry in a pack. It performs in dry cold; in sustained rain or wet snow, put a shell over it so the fill keeps its loft.
Which size should you choose?
The Frost Down Hood Jacket Women has a regular fit with room for a midlayer underneath, elastic cuffs and an ergonomically shaped hem. Use the size chart on this page to compare your measurements. If you plan to wear it under a shell, check that the shell has space for it rather than sizing this jacket up. It is offered in XS to XL, with the size range varying by colour.
How is the Frost Down Hood Jacket Women constructed?
The Peak Performance Frost Down Hood Jacket Women uses a quilted chamber construction: a 100% recycled polyamide shell and a 100% recycled polyamide lining hold duck down with 700 fill power and a 90/10 down-to-feather ratio. The quilting keeps the down distributed instead of letting it migrate to the hem. The tightly woven shell carries a water repellent finish and blocks wind, which is what makes a down layer usable as an outer jacket on dry winter days. The hood is fixed and adjusts in width with a one-way pull, so it closes around your head rather than flapping. Hand pockets and one inner pocket close with zippers.
Is the Frost Down Hood Jacket Women suitable for skiing?
On the mountain, this Peak Performance down jacket is an insulation layer first. Worn under a hardshell on a cold lift day it adds loft without a lot of bulk, and it is the jacket you pull out of the pack during a long stop. It stops where the weather turns wet: there is no stated water column and no taped seams, so sustained rain or heavy wet snow calls for a shell over the top. It is also not a piste shell in its own right, with no powder skirt and no ski-specific hardware, and the elastic cuffs plus the absence of underarm ventilation make it too warm for a fast touring ascent.
What is the Frost Down Hood Jacket Women made of and how do you care for it?
Shell and lining are both 100% recycled polyamide; the fill is 90% duck down and 10% duck feather. Machine wash at 40 °C on an extra gentle programme, inside out, with the zippers closed, using a technical detergent that preserves the water repellent finish and no fabric softener. The drying routine matters more than the wash: tumble dry inside out on low with tennis balls for at least five hours, taking the jacket out every half hour to shake the down loose by hand. Skipping that step leaves the down clotted and the jacket colder than it should be.
What are the sustainability credentials of the Frost Down Hood Jacket Women?
The down in the Peak Performance Frost Down Hood Jacket Women is certified to the Responsible Down Standard and carries sterilization permit no. PA 9900(CN). Shell and lining are made from recycled polyamide, and the jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS. Peak Performance places this jacket in its Frost down family.
