More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

- 600 fill power duck down through the body
- Stretch jersey sleeves and side panels
- Approx. 380 g and packable for travel
- Jersey sleeves carry no down insulation
- Water repellent only, no membrane for wet snow
- Slim cut: little room for a thick midlayer
The Peak Performance Frost Down Hybrid Hood Women is a hybrid down jacket for cold, dry conditions: the body carries 90% duck down / 10% feather at 600 fill power, while the sleeves and side panels are stretch jersey. At around 380 grams and fully packable, it works both as a light outer layer in dry cold and as an insulation layer under a shell jacket.
Who is this jacket for?
It suits a woman who wants warmth in the body and freedom of movement in the arms — for town, travel and low-intensity days in the mountains when the air is dry. The Frost Down Hybrid Hood is not the jacket for sustained rain or wet snow, and not a standalone resort shell on stormy days: the recycled polyamide face fabric has a PFC-free water repellent finish but no membrane, and down loses loft once it wets out.
How warm is the Frost Down Hybrid Hood Women?
Warmth is concentrated in the torso and hood, where the 600 fill power down loft sits. The jersey sleeves and side panels (86% polyester, 14% elastane) carry no insulation, so they move and breathe but add little warmth. Expect comfort in dry cold while you keep moving, and a jacket that is wind resistant rather than windproof when the wind comes across the arms.
Which size should you choose?
The Peak Performance Frost Down Hybrid Hood Women has a slim fit, available in XS to XL (XS in Pine Needle only). Check the size chart against your own measurements before ordering. The jersey panels add stretch, but the slim cut leaves limited room underneath: plan on a base layer or a thin mid layer, or wear the jacket itself under a shell.
How is the Frost Down Hybrid Hood Women built?
Peak Performance combines two fabrics in this hybrid down jacket. The main shell is 100% recycled polyamide over a 100% recycled polyamide lining, filled through the body with a 90% duck down / 10% feather blend rated at 600 fill power. The second fabric is a jersey of 86% polyester and 14% elastane, used for the sleeves and the side panels, where stretch matters more than loft. A PFC-free durable water repellent treatment sheds light snow from the face fabric. Construction details stay simple: a fixed hood, a stand-up collar with chin guard, a full-front reversed YKK coil zipper, zippered hand pockets under a flap, elastic binding at the hem, elastic cuffs and a hanger loop at the outside of the neck.
Can you ski in the Frost Down Hybrid Hood?
Its clearest role on a ski day is as an insulation layer under a shell jacket: the slim cut slides under a hardshell without bunching, and the jersey arms keep bulk away from the shoulders. Worn as an outer layer, it belongs to dry, cold days — cross-country tracks, a walk to the lift, travel between resorts. It stops where the weather turns: with no membrane and no stated seam sealing, the Peak Performance Frost Down Hybrid Hood Women will wet out in prolonged precipitation. The jersey panels are also the wrong surface for abrasion, so carry skis or a loaded pack over a shell rather than directly on them.
What is it made of and how do you wash it?
Shell and lining are 100% recycled polyamide, the stretch panels are 86% polyester with 14% elastane, and the filling is 90% duck down with 10% feather. Machine wash the Frost Down Hybrid Hood at 40 °C on an extra gentle programme, inside out, with zippers closed and no fabric softener. Use a technical detergent so the water repellent finish keeps working. Drying is the part that decides how the jacket performs afterwards: tumble dry inside out on low with tennis balls for at least five hours, taking the jacket out every half hour to shake the down back into an even loft. Do not bleach, do not dry clean, and iron only at a cool setting.
What are the sustainability credentials?
The jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS, and the water repellent treatment is PFC-free. Both the main shell fabric and the lining are 100% recycled polyamide. The down is covered by sterilization permit no. PA 9900(CN).
