More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 60 g/m² body fill: no separate layer needed
- Seam-sealed HIPE®, 10,000 mm / 10,000 g/m²/24h
- Snow gaiters and Cordura® hems over ski boots
- Half-leg vents only, no full-length side zips
- Fixed insulation, too warm for mild spring days
- 10,000 mm is mid-range in wet spring slush
The Peak Performance HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Ski Pants are men's insulated two-layer ski pants built for full days of resort and all-mountain skiing, with a fully seam-sealed HIPE® membrane rated 10,000 mm water column and 10,000 g/m²/24h breathability. The insulation sits in the pant itself: 60 g/m² synthetic sheet insulation at the body, so you ski in a base layer and these pants rather than adding a separate insulating layer underneath. The relaxed cut, articulated legs and Cordura®-reinforced hems are made to sit over ski boots.
Who are these ski pants for?
These are for the resort skier who wants one pant that covers the whole day on lift-served terrain, piste and off-piste, without building a layering system from scratch. Snow gaiters, a RECCO® reflector and loops for the snow skirt snap-in system of a Peak Performance ski jacket point clearly at inbounds and sidecountry use. They are not the pant for high-output ski touring, for warm spring resort days where you would want to remove the insulation, or for anyone who wants a slim, tapered leg. If you prefer bib coverage, look elsewhere: this is a waist model with belt loops.
How warm and how waterproof are the HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Ski Pants?
The HIPE® membrane is rated 10,000 mm / 10,000 g/m²/24h and every seam is sealed, which handles snowfall, chairlift seats and sitting down in deep snow. In prolonged heavy rain or wet spring slush, 10,000 mm is mid-range rather than high. Warmth comes from 60 g/m² synthetic insulation at the body; half-leg zippered vents let you dump some heat on a hard run.
Which size should you choose?
The Peak Performance HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Ski Pants come in S to 2XL with a relaxed fit, so there is room over a base layer and tights without the fabric pulling at the knee. Check the size chart on this page before ordering. The leg is cut long enough to close over ski boots with the snow gaiter and anti-slip elastic, and the inside waistband has loops for suspenders if you ski with them.
What does the HIPE® 2L construction actually do?
HIPE® is Peak Performance's own membrane, here a 100% thermoplastic polyurethane film bonded to a 75D midweight face fabric with 2-way stretch, made from 100% recycled polyester. Two layers plus a hanging lining is the construction; the membrane is rated 10,000 mm and 10,000 g/m²/24h, and all seams are sealed. The stretch in the face fabric matters on a pant with built-in insulation, because it keeps the knee and hip moving with you. One honest consequence of the two-layer build: with its separate lining it is bulkier and less compressible than a three-layer shell, so it is a pant you wear rather than one you stuff in a pack.
Are these ski pants suitable for ski touring?
Only for short ascents. The HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Ski Pants from Peak Performance have half-leg zippered ventilation rather than full-length side zips, and the 60 g/m² body insulation cannot be taken out, so on a long skinning climb you will overheat. Where they work is lift-served skiing: laps on the piste, drops into off-piste snow beside the lift, and the occasional short bootpack to a sidecountry line. Snow gaiters with anti-slip elastic keep snow out of the boot cuff, Cordura® reinforcement at the bottom leg takes edge and crampon-free boot abuse, and the RECCO® reflector adds a passive search option for organised rescue teams. Zippered hand pockets and a zippered leg pocket hold a pass, a phone and a skin wax puck.
What are they made of and how do you care for them?
The outer face is 100% recycled polyester with the HIPE® membrane behind it, backed by a secondary 100% polyester shell panel; the linings are 100% recycled polyester and 100% polyamide, and the filling is 100% recycled polyester. Machine wash at 40°C, inside out, with the zips closed and with similar colours. Use a technical detergent rather than a standard one, because that is what keeps the water-repellent treatment working, and skip the softener. Tumble dry low or line dry in the shade. Do not iron, bleach or dry clean these ski pants.
How sustainable are the Peak Performance HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Ski Pants?
Two concrete points. These ski pants are made without intentionally added PFAS, and the recycled content runs through the parts that use the most material: the shell face fabric, the first lining and the insulation filling are all 100% recycled polyester. The colourway offered is Terrain Tan.
