What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.

Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

Product information
  • 75 gsm 50D polyester shell, genuinely light
  • Punched ventilation holes across all panels
  • Reflective rear cord sets the circumference
  • No insulation and no ear coverage
  • Hand wash cold only, no tumble drying
  • Perforated panels: no wind or rain protection

The Peak Performance Lightweight Cap is a five-panel cap in a 75 gsm, 50D plain-weave polyester, made for sun and warm weather rather than winter. Punched ventilation holes sit across the panels and the flat brim is soft rather than rigid, so the cap packs down into a jacket pocket without a fight. It comes in one size, adjusted with a reflective cord at the back.

Who is the Lightweight Cap for?

This is a cap for warm-weather hiking, travel and everyday wear: spring and summer mountain walking, approaches, low-intensity days out, and off-slope use in town. The Peak Performance Lightweight Cap is not winter headwear. It has no insulation and does not cover your ears, and the structured five-panel crown and brim are not made to be worn under a ski or climbing helmet. If you want warmth, choose a beanie instead.

How much ventilation does the Lightweight Cap give?

The shell is a lightweight 75 gsm 50D plain weave in 100% polyester, perforated with punched ventilation holes so warm air can escape on a climb in the sun. The cap is lined in 100% polyester. That openness cuts both ways: air, wind and rain pass straight through the panels, so treat this as sun and sweat management, not weather protection.

Which size should you choose?

One size fits all. You set the circumference with the cord at the back of the Peak Performance Lightweight Cap, which also carries a reflective element for low light. There is no alternative size to fall back on, so if you prefer a deep, close-fitting crown, check the fit against a cap you already own.

How is the Peak Performance Lightweight Cap built?

Five panels, stitched into a rounded crown, with a flat brim that stays soft instead of holding a hard board shape. The fabric is a 75 gsm 50D plain weave in 100% polyester, with a 100% polyester lining behind it, so the cap keeps its shape without adding bulk. Ventilation holes are punched through the panels. A cord at the rear closes the sizing gap and carries a reflective finish, which is useful when you walk back to the car at dusk. There is no membrane and no insulation anywhere in the Peak Performance Lightweight Cap: every part of the construction is aimed at keeping sun off your face and heat off your head.

Is the Lightweight Cap suitable for hiking and travel?

Yes, and that is where it belongs. On a spring or summer walk, on an approach to a climb, or on a long travel day, the Peak Performance Lightweight Cap shades your eyes and vents the heat you generate uphill. It also works simply as an everyday cap in a plain Scandinavian colourway, in Salute Blue or White. Where it stops is clear enough: it is not a layer for cold days, it leaves your ears exposed, and the perforated panels mean a rain shower goes through it. For skiing it has no role, and it is not designed to sit under a helmet.

What are the materials, and how do you wash the Lightweight Cap?

Shell and lining are both 100% polyester, with the shell specified as a 75 gsm 50D plain weave. Polyester holds its shape after sweat and keeps the brim flat, but it does need care that is gentler than most caps: the Peak Performance Lightweight Cap is hand wash cold at 30 °C only. Wash it with similar colours, skip fabric softener and bleach, and take it out of the water promptly rather than leaving it to sit. Dry it flat in the shade so the crown keeps its form. No tumble drying, no ironing, no dry cleaning and no professional wet cleaning. If you want a cap you can throw in a machine with your base layers, this is not that cap.

What does Peak Performance say about chemicals in this cap?

The Peak Performance Lightweight Cap is made without intentionally added PFAS. Because the cap carries no water-repellent finish in the first place, nothing about its warm-weather performance depends on that chemistry.
