A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 48% merino / 48% polyester knit, next to skin
- YKK half zip and stand-up collar for venting
- Flatlock seams and rib knit panels, no chafing
- No membrane: needs a shell in wind, rain or snow
- Next-to-skin cut: no room over a thick midlayer
- 30 °C delicate, line dry, wool detergent only
The Peak Performance Magic Half Zip Wool-blend Baselayer Men is a long-sleeve base layer in a polyester and merino wool blend, cut next to the skin and worn directly under a midlayer and shell. The half zip with a YKK reversed coil zipper and the stand-up collar let you open up the chest and neck the moment a climb heats you up, then close them again on the descent. Rib knit panels and 4% elastane in the main fabric keep the top moving with you instead of pulling at the shoulders.
Who is this base layer for?
This Peak Performance base layer suits a skier who wants a close-fitting merino-blend top with a zip for temperature control across a full day: lift-served skiing, ski touring, freeride and general alpine use. It is not an outer layer. There is no membrane and no wind protection, so it belongs under a shell in wind, rain or snow. If you prefer a loose, relaxed long-sleeve top, or you want to layer another shirt underneath, this cut will feel too tight.
How does the wool blend perform?
The main fabric is 48% polyester, 48% merino wool and 4% elastane, with a second panel fabric of 50% polyester and 50% merino wool. Polyester carries the durability and the stretch recovery, merino gives the soft handle against the skin, and the knit construction breathes rather than traps air. Flatlock seams sit flat under a pack strap or a harness instead of ridging up.
Which size should you choose?
The Magic Half Zip is cut next to the skin, so expect a slim, close fit with no spare fabric at the waist or sleeves. Check the size chart on this page against your chest measurement before ordering. Sizes run S to 2XL, with 2XL offered in BLACK only; MOUNTAIN LAKE runs S to XL.
How is the Peak Performance Magic Half Zip built?
The Peak Performance Magic Half Zip Wool-blend Baselayer Men is a single-layer knit top, not a laminated garment. Two fabrics do the work: a main body fabric of 48% polyester, 48% merino wool and 4% elastane, and rib knit panels in 50% polyester and 50% merino wool. The half zip uses a YKK reversed coil zipper, which keeps the coil away from the skin, and runs up into a stand-up collar that covers the throat when closed. Every seam is flatlock stitched so the join lies flat rather than standing proud against the skin.
Is it suitable for ski touring and freeride?
Yes, and the zip is the reason. On the way up, opening the half zip and the stand-up collar releases heat from the chest and neck without stopping to strip layers; closing it again on an exposed ridge or a cold chairlift keeps that heat in. The stretch fabric and rib knit panels follow big movements, which matters in steep touring and in freeride turns. Where this top stops is weather: the Magic Half Zip has no membrane, no water column and no stated wind resistance, so it needs a shell over it once the wind picks up or snow starts falling. It also cannot be taken off mid-tour without pulling it over your head, which a full-zip top allows.
What are the materials and how do you wash it?
Wool blends reward careful washing, and this one has clear limits. Machine wash the Peak Performance Magic Half Zip at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with a wool detergent and with the zip closed. Skip fabric softener: it coats the fibres and dulls the merino handle. Do not tumble dry, do not iron, do not bleach and do not dry clean. Reshape the top while it is still wet and line dry it in the shade. If your laundry routine is a hot wash and a tumble dryer, this is the wrong base layer for your household.
