More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 80 g/m2 body insulation, fully seam sealed
- Snow skirt snaps into Peak Performance ski pants
- RECCO® reflector and helmet-compatible hood
- Insulation is fixed, too warm on mild spring days
- 10,000 mm is mid-level for long, wet days
- Vents only under the sleeves, no body vents
The Peak Performance Maroon Blocked HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Jacket is a men's insulated ski jacket for full days on the lifts, built on a fully seam-sealed two-layer HIPE® construction rated 10,000 mm water column and 10,000 g/m2/24h breathability. Body-mapped synthetic insulation carries 80 g/m2 through the body and sleeves and 60 g/m2 in the hood, so the warmth sits in the jacket instead of in a thick midlayer. Colour-blocked panels and a back print separate it from a plain resort shell.
Who is this ski jacket for?
This is a jacket for the resort skier who wants one warm, waterproof layer that covers a whole day of chairlift laps, including lift-served freeride and side-country runs. The helmet-compatible hood, fixed snow skirt and RECCO® reflector are all built for that use. The Peak Performance Maroon Blocked HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Jacket is not the jacket for uphill days: with fixed 80 g/m2 insulation and 10,000 g/m2/24h breathability it runs too warm and too damp for skinning, and it is too heavy and too lined for technical alpine climbing.
How warm and how waterproof is it?
The HIPE® membrane of the Maroon Blocked HIPE® 2L jacket is rated 10,000 mm water column with 10,000 g/m2/24h moisture transport, and every seam is sealed. That handles snowfall, wind and a wet chairlift seat; sustained heavy rain or multi-day wet alpine use asks for more. Warmth comes from 100% recycled polyester sheet insulation, 80 g/m2 in the body and sleeves and 60 g/m2 in the hood. Zipped vents under the sleeves let you dump heat on a warm afternoon, but the insulation itself cannot be removed.
Which size should you choose?
The Peak Performance Maroon Blocked HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Jacket has a regular cut that sits at the hip with a dropped hem at the back. The standard size is built to go over a base layer, a midlayer and back protection, so there is no need to size up for protection. Check the size chart on this page against your chest measurement before ordering. Velcro cuff straps and the hem drawcord fine-tune the fit; the jacket is offered in S to 2XL.
How is the HIPE® 2L construction built?
The Peak Performance Maroon Blocked HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Jacket uses a 75D midweight face fabric of 100% recycled polyester with two-way stretch, bonded to a HIPE® membrane of 100% thermoplastic polyurethane. That makes it a two-layer build with a separate 100% recycled polyester lining rather than a backer printed onto the membrane. All seams are sealed, and the fabric carries a water-repellent treatment made without intentionally added PFAS. Between the shell and the lining sits body-mapped synthetic sheet insulation of 100% recycled polyester: 80 g/m2 across the body, 80 g/m2 in the sleeves and 60 g/m2 in the hood, which keeps the sleeves warm without blocking the two-way stretch in the arms.
What does this jacket do on the piste?
On resort terrain the feature set of the Maroon Blocked HIPE® 2L jacket is complete: a hood that fits over a ski helmet with one-way width adjustment and a laminated brim, a fixed snow skirt that snaps into Peak Performance ski pants, a zipped ski pass pocket, a goggle wiper cloth and a RECCO® Rescue System reflector. Articulated sleeves and elastic wrist gaiters keep snow out when you fall in soft snow on a side-country lap. Where it stops is uphill travel and long mild spring days — with ventilation limited to the zips under the sleeves and insulation that stays in the jacket, you cannot strip it back to a plain shell. The hood adjusts in width only, so there is no volume or rear adjuster to pull it tight over a bare head.
What is it made of and how do you wash it?
Face fabric, lining and insulation filling of the Peak Performance Maroon Blocked HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Jacket are all 100% recycled polyester, with the membrane in thermoplastic polyurethane. Polyester shells like this tolerate regular washing, which matters because a membrane garment only breathes properly when it is clean. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with all zippers closed, the goggle wipe cloth removed and no fabric softener. Use a technical detergent to maintain the water-repellent treatment, and tumble dry on low afterwards to reactivate it. Do not bleach, do not iron and do not dry clean.
What are the sustainability credentials?
Two concrete points. The jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS, and the three main fabric components — face fabric, lining and insulation filling — are each 100% recycled polyester.
