More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 60 g/m² insulation: no warm underlayer needed
- HIPE® 2L, 10.000 mm, fully sealed seams
- Snow gaiters plus Cordura® reinforced hems
- No thigh or leg vents to dump heat
- 10.000 mm is mid-level waterproofing
- Waist height; suspenders not included
The Peak Performance Maroon HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Pants Men are insulated two-layer ski pants built for resort skiing, with a HIPE® membrane rated 10.000 mm water column and 10.000 g/m²/24h breathability, fully sealed seams and 60 g/m² synthetic insulation in the body. The insulation is built in, so you wear them straight over a base layer without a separate warm bottom layer. Waist loops snap into the powder skirt system of a matching Peak Performance ski jacket, closing the gap between jacket and pant on deep days.
Who are these ski pants for?
These are for the resort skier who wants a warm, fully sealed waist-height pant with snow gaiters and a jacket connection, and who does not need ventilation zips or a top-tier water column. They also work for occasional off-piste and lift-served freeride on cold days, and for standing around a winter resort off the slopes. They are not the pant for high-output ski touring or skinning, and not for warm spring days above freezing, where 60 g/m² of insulation becomes too much. If you want bib coverage with a built-in powder skirt, choose a bib instead.
How warm and how waterproof are the Maroon HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Pants?
Warmth comes from a synthetic sheet insulation of 100% recycled polyester at 60 g/m² in the body, which covers cold chairlift rides and full days around and below freezing. Protection comes from the HIPE® membrane at 10.000 mm and 10.000 g/m²/24h, with every seam sealed and Cordura® reinforcement where ski edges hit the bottom leg. That is solid mid-level protection for cold, dry snow rather than hours of heavy rain or wet snow.
Which size should you choose?
The Peak Performance Maroon HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Pants Men have a regular fit and come in S to 2XL. Check your waist and inseam against the Peak Performance size chart on this page, because one leg length is offered per size. Velcro straps at the waistband adjust the width, and inside loops take suspenders, which are not included.
How is the HIPE® 2L construction built?
The Peak Performance Maroon HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Pants Men use a two-layer construction: a 75D midweight face fabric of 100% recycled polyester with 2-way stretch, bonded to a HIPE® membrane of 100% thermoplastic polyurethane. HIPE® is Peak Performance's own membrane and here it is rated at 10.000 mm water column and 10.000 g/m²/24h moisture vapour transfer. Behind the laminate sits a sheet insulation of 100% recycled polyester at 60 g/m² in the body, held between two linings. All seams are sealed, so water does not find a way in through the stitching. A secondary shell fabric of 100% polyester and Cordura® reinforcement protect the bottom leg from boot buckles and edges.
Are these pants suitable for ski touring?
No. These are lift-served ski pants. No thigh or leg ventilation zips are fitted, so there is no way to dump heat on a climb, and the 60 g/m² body insulation keeps working whether you want it to or not. On the piste that is exactly the point: articulated legs and 2-way stretch fabric keep the pant moving with you through long days, snow gaiters with anti-slip elastic seal over your ski boots, and the loops at the waist snap into the powder skirt system of a matching Peak Performance ski jacket. Zippered leg pockets hold a pass or a phone. For side-country laps off the lift and for cold-weather resort use the Maroon HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Pants are in their element; for skinning uphill, pick an uninsulated, vented shell.
What are the Maroon HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Pants made of and how do you wash them?
The face fabric, the first lining and the insulation filling are all 100% recycled polyester; the membrane is 100% thermoplastic polyurethane, the second shell fabric 100% polyester and the second lining 100% polyamide. Polyester takes abrasion well, which suits a resort pant that spends its life against boots and chairlifts. Machine wash at 40°C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with zips closed and no fabric softener. Use a technical detergent rather than a standard one, and tumble dry on low afterwards: the heat reactivates the water-repellent treatment on the face fabric. Do not iron, do not bleach and do not dry clean.
How sustainable are these ski pants?
The Peak Performance Maroon HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Pants Men are made without intentionally added PFAS and are GRS certified, with recycled polyester in the face fabric, the lining and the insulation filling.
