A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- HIPE® 3-layer, 10.000 mm, fully seam sealed
- Cordura® reinforcement at the bottom leg
- Snaps into Peak Performance ski jackets
- Uninsulated: needs a base layer in deep cold
- 10.000 mm is mid-range for a modern ski shell
- Waist pant, not a bib: no chest coverage
The Peak Performance Maroon HIPE® 3L Shell Pants are an uninsulated three-layer waterproof ski pant for resort skiing, built around Peak Performance's own HIPE® membrane with a 10.000 mm water column and fully sealed seams. The three-layer laminate has 2-way stretch and a Cordura® reinforcement at the bottom leg, so the fabric moves with you and takes the abuse of ski edges and boot buckles. Warmth is left to you: there is no insulation, which keeps the pant usable from mild spring days to cold January mornings over the right base layer.
Who are these ski pants for?
These are for the resort skier who rides full lift-served days in mixed weather and prefers to regulate warmth with a base layer rather than a fixed fill. They also handle lift-served off-piste and side-country laps, and general winter mountain wear in wind and wet snow. They are not a warm pant on their own, and they are not a bib — there is no chest or back coverage for deep-snow days or heavy falls. Skiers who climb on skins and want to dump heat fast will want a shell pant with thigh or side vents.
How waterproof are the Maroon HIPE® 3L Shell Pants?
The HIPE® three-layer laminate is rated at 10.000 mm water column with 10.000 g/m2/24h breathability, and every seam is sealed. That covers a normal snowy, windy resort day and the chairlift seat. It sits in the mid-range rather than the 20.000/20.000 class, so prolonged heavy wet snow and long spells sitting on wet surfaces are the limit.
Which size should you choose?
The Peak Performance Maroon HIPE® 3L Shell Pants have a regular fit with a mid-rise waist that sits over a base layer, and the legs are cut to go over ski boots. Available in S to 2XL. Check the size chart against your usual waist and inseam; the Velcro waist straps, belt loops and inside suspender loops let you fine-tune the waist.
How is the HIPE® 3-layer construction built?
The Peak Performance Maroon HIPE® 3L Shell Pants use a bonded three-layer laminate: a 100% recycled polyester face, a 100% thermoplastic polyurethane HIPE® membrane and a 100% recycled polyester backer. Because the backer is bonded to the membrane there is no loose lining to twist or soak up moisture. The laminate has 2-way stretch, and the legs are articulated at the knee so the fabric follows a flexed knee instead of pulling at the waist. Every seam is sealed, a water-repellent finish sheds the first layer of wet snow, and a secondary 100% polyester shell panel plus Cordura® reinforcement sit at the bottom leg where edges and boot buckles do their damage.
How do these pants perform on a resort day?
On piste the Maroon HIPE® 3L Shell Pants do the straightforward work well: 10.000 mm of waterproofing and sealed seams through snowfall and wet chairlift seats, windproof laminate on exposed ridge lifts, and snow gaiters with anti-slip elastic that stay put over your ski boots. Inside loops at the waistband let you add suspenders, and the snow-skirt snap-in loops connect the pant to a Peak Performance ski jacket, closing the gap at the waist for lift-served off-piste and side-country laps. Where it stops is uphill work and warm spring afternoons: with no insulation to strip out and no thigh vents to open, your only heat control is the base layer you chose that morning.
What are they made of and how do you wash them?
Shell 1 is the HIPE® three-layer laminate with recycled polyester on both faces, Shell 2 is 100% polyester, and the facing is 100% polyamide. Machine wash at 40 °C with similar colours, zips closed, no bleach and no fabric softener — softener coats the face fabric and kills the water-repellent finish. Tumble dry low or use a cool iron after washing: the heat reactivates the repellency, which is the single most useful piece of maintenance for a shell pant. Do not dry clean; professional wet cleaning under a normal process is fine. Line drying in the shade keeps the recycled polyester face from fading.
What makes these pants a more responsible choice?
The Maroon HIPE® 3L Shell Pants are made without intentionally added PFAS, and both the face and the backer of the three-layer laminate are 100% recycled polyester. The Cordura® reinforcement at the bottom leg is a durability measure as much as a performance one: the hem is where ski pants usually die first.
