More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- Packs into its own inner pocket
- Shell, lining and fill: 100% recycled polyester
- Repair patch included, mono-material build
- Water repellent only, not a waterproof shell
- Light fill: too cool for standing still in cold
- No powder skirt or RECCO: not a resort ski jacket
The Peak Performance Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket Women is a lightweight, packable synthetic insulated jacket built as an insulating layer for high-output mountain activities. PrimaLoft ThermX free-fibre insulation sits behind a 47 gsm 20D recycled polyester ripstop shell, and the whole jacket packs into its own inner pocket. Shell, lining and filling are each 100% recycled polyester, in a mono-material construction designed for recycling.
Who is the Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket for?
It suits a woman who wants one light insulation layer that slides under a ski shell on cold days and works on its own in dry, cool weather, and who values recycled, repairable construction. It is not a stand-alone resort ski jacket: there is no powder skirt, no ski-specific hardware, no waterproof rating and no RECCO reflector. The shell is water repellent only, so sustained rain or wet snow calls for a hardshell jacket over the top.
How warm is the Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket Women?
Warmth comes from loose PrimaLoft ThermX synthetic fibre, held in narrow-engineered quilting channels, under a 47 gsm 20D ripstop face fabric that blocks wind and repels light rain and snow. The water-repellent finish is made without intentionally added PFAS. This is a light layer for moving: skinning, hiking, cold starts and cool evenings. For standing still in deep cold, choose a heavier insulated jacket.
Which size should you choose in the Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket?
The cut is a regular fit that gives freedom of movement without bulk, so it layers over a base layer and midlayer and still slides under a shell jacket. Use the size chart on this page to compare your measurements before ordering. Sizes run XS to XL, with Summit Smoke and Wild Rouge offered in S to L only.
How is the Peak Performance Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket Women built?
The Peak Performance Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket Women uses PrimaLoft ThermX free-fibre insulation: a loose synthetic padding rather than a bonded sheet, held in place by narrow-engineered quilting. Over it sits a 47 gsm 20D recycled polyester ripstop, a face fabric chosen for low weight that also blocks wind and sheds light rain and snow. The lining is 100% recycled polyester. A reversed YKK coil zipper runs the full front and ends at a chinguard on the collar, the hood is fixed, and two zipped hand pockets keep essentials secure. The jacket compresses into its inner pocket, and a hanger loop and a small Peak Performance embroidery on the chest finish it.
Is the Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket suitable for skiing and ski touring?
As a midlayer, yes. Under a shell jacket the Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket Women adds insulation for cold lift days and for touring, and the packability means it disappears into a pack on the climb and comes out at the summit. Worn on its own, it covers dry, cool conditions, travel and everyday use. Where it stops is clear: without a stated water column or sealed seams it is not the layer for prolonged precipitation, and without a powder skirt or ski-specific features it is not meant to replace a resort ski jacket. There is no RECCO reflector, so it does not add to your avalanche search profile.
What is the Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket made of and how do you wash it?
Shell, lining and filling are all 100% recycled polyester, which makes the jacket easy to care for: machine wash at 30 °C on a delicate or wool program, inside out, with zippers closed and similar colours. A technical detergent keeps the water-repellent finish working; fabric softener does not. Skip the tennis balls, do not soak, wring, bleach, iron or dry clean, and take the jacket out of the machine promptly. Tumble dry on low until fully dry, or lay it flat in a drying cabinet, which is the best way to maintain the water repellency.
What makes the Monolight Synthetic Hood Jacket a more responsible choice?
Every layer of this Peak Performance jacket is 100% recycled polyester, and that is deliberate: a mono-material construction is far simpler to recycle at the end of its life than a mix of fibres. A repair patch is included, so a snag from a ski edge or a branch can be fixed instead of ending the jacket's use. The water-repellent treatment on the face fabric is made without intentionally added PFAS.
