A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance NatureRush Pile Vest is a men's pile fleece vest built as a warm midlayer for everyday wear, walks and trail days. Its warmth comes from the fabric rather than a fill: a midweight 325 gsm pile with a soft jersey back, paired with lightweight 42 gsm 20D ripstop panels that block wind and shed light rain. Sleeveless, hoodless and without a membrane, it is a layer under a shell rather than a jacket on its own.
Who is the NatureRush Pile Vest for?
This vest suits anyone who wants extra core warmth for daily wear, walks, hikes and layering under a shell jacket, indoors as much as outdoors. It is not an outer layer for wind-driven snow or rain, it leaves your arms and head uncovered, and it is not built for static warmth in deep cold, where a down or synthetic-fill garment does more. It carries no helmet-compatible hood, no powder skirt and no RECCO reflector, so technical ski use is outside its brief.
How warm is a 325 gsm pile vest?
The Peak Performance NatureRush Pile Vest uses midweight 325 gsm pile across the body, which traps a lot of air for its thickness and stays breathable because there is no membrane to slow moisture down. The pile itself is air-permeable; only the 42 gsm 20D ripstop panels are windproof. A stand-up collar with elastic binding closes off draughts at the neck.
Which size should you choose?
The cut is a regular fit, so there is room to wear the vest over a long-sleeve tee or a light sweater, and room for a shell jacket on top. Black runs from S to 2XL; Sand Fog is offered in M, L and XL. Check the Peak Performance size chart on this page before you order.
How is the NatureRush Pile Vest constructed?
The Peak Performance NatureRush Pile Vest combines two fabrics. The body is a midweight 325 gsm pile with a soft jersey face on the inside, which is where the warmth and the next-to-skin comfort come from — there is no separate insulation fill and no lining. Alongside it sit panels in a lightweight 42 gsm 20D ripstop that block wind and repel light rain. Seams are narrow flatlock covering seams, which keeps the join flat under a shell jacket. A full-length two-way YKK Vislon® front zipper lets you open the hem while the collar stays closed, and elastic binding runs along the collar, the centre front zipper, the hem and the armholes.
Is this vest suitable for hiking and resort days?
As a hiking and walking layer the NatureRush Pile Vest does its best work: core warmth, high breathability and no membrane to trap moisture when the pace picks up. On a ski day it belongs under a shell, where it adds warmth over a base or long-sleeve layer without bulk at the shoulders. It stops where the weather turns: with no membrane, no stated water column and no taped seams, wind-driven snow or rain calls for a hardshell jacket over the top. Being sleeveless, it also leaves your arms to the midlayer or shell above it.
What is the NatureRush Pile Vest made of and how do you wash it?
Shell 1, the 325 gsm pile body, is 100% recycled polyester. Shell 2, the 20D ripstop panelling, is 100% recycled polyamide. Both are synthetic, so the vest dries quickly and takes repeated washing well. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle with similar colours and close the zippers first, which keeps the Vislon® teeth from catching the pile. Tumble dry on low or line dry in the shade. Do not bleach, do not iron, and do not dry clean or professionally wet clean. Washing restores loft in the pile — a flattened vest usually just needs a cycle, not replacement.
What makes this a more responsible choice?
Both shell fabrics of the Peak Performance NatureRush Pile Vest are fully recycled: 100% recycled polyester in the pile and 100% recycled polyamide in the ripstop. The vest is made without intentionally added PFAS.
