What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

5. Refund

You will receive confirmation by e-mail when your return has been received and processed.

This is usually within a few days after your order has been delivered to us. The money will then be refunded to the account you paid with within a week after confirmation (usually longer for credit card payments). If you have chosen to pay afterwards, this will be adjusted on your Klarna invoice.

Please note! If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

Product information
  • 288 g/m² brushed cotton-blend melange fleece
  • 2x2 rib at neck, cuffs and hem keeps its shape
  • Made without intentionally added PFAS
  • 78% cotton: absorbs sweat and dries slowly
  • No membrane, so no rain or wind protection
  • 520 g and heavyweight — not for packing light

The Peak Performance Original Crew is a men's crew neck sweatshirt from the Original line, cut from a heavyweight 288 g cotton-blend melange fleece with a brushed back. It is made for everyday wear, travel and time in the resort after skiing, not for weather protection on the mountain. Raglan sleeves and 2x2 rib at the neckline, cuffs and bottom hem give it the structure of a classic sweatshirt.

Who is the Original Crew for?

This Peak Performance sweatshirt suits you if you want one heavy, soft crew neck for the drive up, the breakfast table and the bar afterwards. It is not a technical ski layer: with a 78% cotton fabric and no membrane, it is the wrong choice for wet weather, for wind, and for high-output days where you ski hard under a shell.

How warm is the Peak Performance Original Crew?

Warmth comes from the fabric itself. The 288 g/m² cotton-blend fleece is brushed on the inside, which traps air against the skin and makes it noticeably warmer than a standard jersey sweatshirt. No insulation is fitted and no membrane blocks wind, so warmth drops as soon as it blows. Total garment weight is 520 g, which tells you this is a substantial piece rather than a packable one.

Which size should you choose in the Original Crew?

The Original Crew has a regular fit: straight through the chest and body, with room to move and to wear a T-shirt or base layer underneath. Order your usual size and check the size chart on this page against a sweatshirt you already own. The 2x2 rib at the neckline, cuffs and hem holds its shape and keeps the sleeves in place. Available in S, M, L, XL and 2XL.

How is the Peak Performance Original Crew made?

The Peak Performance Original Crew is a single-fabric sweatshirt: a heavyweight 288 g cotton-blend melange fleece in 78% cotton and 22% polyester, with no lining and no membrane. The inside face is brushed, which raises the fibres into a soft, air-holding surface; the polyester share adds resilience to a fabric that is otherwise mostly cotton. The sleeves are set in raglan style, so the seam runs from the underarm to the neckline instead of sitting on the shoulder point, which keeps the shoulder free when you reach or carry. The neckline, cuffs and bottom hem are finished with 2x2 rib that pulls the openings closed and keeps the hem from riding up.

Can you ski in the Original Crew?

Use the Original Crew around skiing rather than for it. It works for the journey, breakfast, the hotel and the bar in the evening, and as a casual mid-layer on a dry, mild day when nothing is pushing you hard. Where it stops is clear: under a shell on a touring day or on a high-output descent, the 78% cotton fabric soaks up sweat and stays damp for a long time, which leaves you cold the moment you stop. There is no water column and no water-repellent finish, so rain and wet snow go straight in. If the brief is fast, sweaty or wet, pick a synthetic or wool midlayer instead and keep this Peak Performance crew neck for the hours off the hill.

What are the materials and how do you care for the Original Crew?

The shell fabric of the Peak Performance Original Crew is 78% cotton and 22% polyester. Cotton is comfortable and stable against the skin but holds moisture, so plan for slow drying after a wash as well as after a sweat. Machine wash at 40°C, turned inside out and with similar colours, since a melange fabric shows wear on the surface first. Do not bleach and do not tumble dry — line dry in the shade to protect the brushed inner face and keep the rib in shape. If you press it, use medium heat and work on the reverse side. Dry cleaning is out; professional wet cleaning on a mild process is fine.

What is the sustainability story?

The Original Crew is made without intentionally added PFAS. That is straightforward for a garment with no membrane and no water-repellent chemistry to begin with, and it is the claim this Peak Performance sweatshirt actually carries.

Which colours are available?

Three colourways: Black, Summit Sky, and Med Grey Melange — a mid grey in which the melange is the fleece fabric itself, so the colour reads slightly flecked rather than flat.
