What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 112 cm webbing, adjustable with gloves on
  • Low profile: sits flat under a waistband
  • 16% elastane webbing stretches as you move
  • One size only: a single 112 cm length
  • Plastic buckle, no load rating given
  • Damp cloth only, not machine washable

The Peak Performance PP Stretch Belt is a one-size elastic webbing belt built to hold ski and outdoor pants in place, with a total length of 112 cm and a low-profile plastic buckle. The webbing itself stretches — 78% polypropylene, 16% elastane and 6% polyester — so the belt follows your movement instead of fixing your waist at one circumference. It is shaped to sit flat under layers, which is the point of difference against a thicker belt with a metal buckle.

Who is the PP Stretch Belt for?

This belt suits skiers and hikers who want a thin waist fix that can be adjusted with gloves on and that does not create a pressure point under a pants waistband or a backpack hipbelt. It works equally well worn casually. The Peak Performance PP Stretch Belt is not a load-bearing item: it carries no hydration system or gear, and it must never be used as a climbing, rappel or safety belt.

How adjustable is a 112 cm belt?

The PP Stretch Belt comes in a single 112 cm length, and the waist is set by feeding the webbing through the plastic buckle rather than by choosing a size. The elastane content in the webbing adds give on top of that setting, so the belt tightens and releases as you bend, sit on a chairlift or shoulder a pack. Very small and very large waists are the limit of a single-length design.

Which size should you choose?

There is one size, OSFA, so the decision is made for you. Check your waist measurement against the 112 cm total length before ordering, and remember that part of that length is used up by the buckle and the tail. Because the belt is deliberately low in profile, it layers under a ski pants waistband, a bib or a shell without adding bulk.

How is the Peak Performance PP Stretch Belt made?

The Peak Performance PP Stretch Belt is built from a single piece of elastic webbing — 78% polypropylene, 16% elastane and 6% polyester — closed with a plastic buckle. Polypropylene gives the webbing its body, the elastane gives it return, and the polyester sits in the weave alongside them. There is no lining and no padding, which is what keeps the belt thin enough to disappear under a waistband. The Peak Performance logo is debossed into the webbing and a P-logo is debossed into the buckle, so the branding adds no stitching or hardware on the inside face.

Is the PP Stretch Belt suitable for skiing and hiking?

Yes — holding ski and outdoor pants in place on hikes, in the park and on big-mountain days is exactly what this belt is for, and it doubles as a resort and everyday belt. The plastic buckle is low enough in profile to be worked with gloves on, so you can slacken the waist on the way up and pull it in before a run. Where the PP Stretch Belt stops is load: it is a belt without hydration carry, it holds no gear, and no strength or load rating is given for the plastic buckle. Treat it as a waist fix, never as part of a safety system.

What are the materials and how do you clean it?

The webbing is 78% polypropylene, 16% elastane and 6% polyester throughout, with no separate lining. Care is deliberately narrow: the PP Stretch Belt should not be washed, bleached, tumble dried, ironed, dry cleaned or professionally wet cleaned. Clean it with a damp cloth and line dry it in the shade. That rules out throwing it into the machine with your base layers at the end of a trip, which is worth knowing before you buy. In exchange, there is nothing in the construction that a wash cycle could shrink, delaminate or deform, and the synthetic webbing dries quickly after a wipe-down.

What does Peak Performance say about chemicals in this belt?

The Peak Performance PP Stretch Belt is made without intentionally added PFAS. For an accessory that sits directly against the body and against your pants all day, that is the most relevant material statement available. Peak Performance has designed in Sweden since 1986, and the brand's attention to composition and longevity shows in a belt that is reduced to webbing and a buckle, with nothing added that is not doing a job.
