What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants are uninsulated three-layer shell bib pants for men, built for freeride lines and ski touring. They pair a HIPE® ACE membrane rated 20,000 mm water column and 20,000 g/m²/24h breathability with fully seam-sealed construction and 2-way stretch. There is no insulation at all, so you set the warmth with the base layer and mid layer you wear underneath.

Who are the Ridge Ace bib pants for?

They suit a skier who moves between lift-served freeride descents and skinning on the same day, and who wants a waterproof shell bib with ventilation, a transceiver loop and a relaxed cut he can layer to the conditions. If you want a warm resort pant that works on cold chairlift days without an extra mid layer, this is the wrong pant: the Peak Performance Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants carry no fill. The relaxed silhouette is also not for anyone who wants a slim, close-fitting pant.

How waterproof and breathable are the Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants?

The three-layer HIPE® ACE laminate is rated 20,000 mm water column and 20,000 g/m²/24h, and the whole garment is fully seam sealed, so wet snow and sitting on a lift chair stay outside. Exposed zippers are YKK AquaGuard®, and a water repellent treatment on the face fabric keeps the surface from wetting out. Half-leg zippered vents let you release heat on the way up.

Which size should you choose?

The cut is relaxed and the bib sits high on the chest, with room for a base layer and a mid layer underneath. Check the size chart on this page for the right size, then fine-tune the length with the adjustable suspenders and the Velcro straps at the waistband. Available in S, M, L and XL.

How is the Peak Performance Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants built?

The shell is a 70D lightweight ripstop with a paper-like hand, laminated to the HIPE® ACE membrane and backed by a soft tricot — three layers in one fabric, with 2-way stretch across the whole panel. Every seam is sealed, and the full front closure runs on a 2-way YKK reversed coil zipper with a zip fly, so the Peak Performance Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants can be opened without taking off the suspenders. The legs are articulated, and snow gaiters with anti-slip elastic sit over the boot cuff. A RECCO® Rescue System reflector is built in.

Are the Ridge Ace bib pants suitable for ski touring?

Yes, within limits. The Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants are a shell, not an insulated pant, which is exactly what you want when you are generating heat on a skin track, and the half-leg zippered vents let you release that heat without stopping. The 20,000 g/m²/24h rating supports sustained output. Where it stops: the vents are half-leg only, not full-length side zips, so you cannot open the legs completely or pull the pants on over mounted ski boots as quickly. Pockets are set up for the day out — "bubble" leg pockets for gloved access, a mesh phone pocket inside the leg pocket, and a zippered pocket with a transceiver loop. Loops at the waist snap into a ski jacket snow-skirt system for a closed connection on deep days.

What are the Ridge Ace bib pants made of and how do you wash them?

The main shell face is 60% recycled polyamide and 40% polyamide, over a 100% polypropylene membrane and a 100% polyester backer; the secondary shell panel is 100% polyester. That is a synthetic construction throughout, which washes easily and dries fast. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle with liquid detergent, rinse twice and skip the fabric softener — softener clogs a membrane. Close the zippers first and wash with similar colours. After washing, iron cool or tumble dry low to reactivate the water repellent treatment, and keep the iron off the print. No bleach, no dry cleaning, no professional wet cleaning.

What makes the Ridge Ace bib pants more sustainable?

The face fabric of the main shell contains 60% recycled polyamide, so the largest fabric surface of the Peak Performance Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants is made mostly from recycled fibre rather than virgin polyamide.

3L
3L
3L refers to a three-layer construction in which the outer fabric, membrane, and a thin backer layer are combined into one unified layer. This design offers excellent protection against wind and water while maintaining high breathability. Because 3L is unlined, it feels light and flexible and functions as a versatile shell that allows your warmth and comfort to be determined by the layers you wear underneath. As a result, 3L provides a well-balanced combination of protection, freedom of movement, and comfort in winter conditions.
Peak Performance
Peak Performance began in 1986 in Åre, Sweden, where a group of ski enthusiasts decided to create ski clothing that was as stylish as it was functional. The brand is known for minimalist Scandinavian design and technical innovation. What once started as a local project is now a world leader in outdoor clothing, with products that combine sustainability and performance.
