More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 700 fill power down + 80 g/m2 hybrid fill
- Powder skirt snaps into compatible ski pants
- RECCO® reflector and zipped ski-pass pocket
- Slim cut: little room for a thick midlayer
- Only critical seams sealed, not fully taped
- No pit zips, so heat is hard to dump
The Peak Performance Silverchute Helium Down Jacket is a women's insulated ski jacket for cold days on groomed pistes, combining 700 fill power duck down with synthetic sheet insulation under a two-layer HIPE® shell. With a 10.000 mm water column, sealed critical seams, a fixed powder skirt, a ski-pass pocket and a RECCO® reflector, it is built as a warm resort jacket rather than a hard-wearing all-weather shell.
Who is this jacket for?
This is a jacket for a woman who skis lift-served pistes in low temperatures and wants warmth plus ski-specific detailing: the powder skirt snaps into compatible ski pants, the ski-pass pocket sits within reach on the chairlift, and the RECCO® reflector stays with you all season. It is not the right choice for high-output ski touring or skinning, where the continuous insulation and the absence of ventilation openings leave you no way to dump heat, and it is not built for long days of heavy rain or wet snow.
How warm is the Silverchute Helium Down Jacket?
The hybrid fill is rated at 80 g/m2 and pairs 700 fill power duck down (90% down, 10% duck feather) with a synthetic sheet insulation of 100% polyester. That is a mid-weight fill: warm enough for cold chairlift days and cold-weather everyday wear, but less than an expedition-level down parka for standing still in extreme cold. The main 75D shell fabric is rated 10.000 mm / 10.000 g/m2/24h, the 20D panels 10.000 mm / 15.000 g/m2/24h.
Which size should you choose?
The Silverchute Helium Down Jacket from Peak Performance has a slim fit and runs from XS to XL. It is designed as an outer layer over a base layer and one midlayer. Check the Peak Performance size chart before you order, and if you normally ski in a heavy fleece or a second insulated layer, take the next size up — the slim cut leaves limited room underneath.
How is the Silverchute Helium Down Jacket constructed?
Peak Performance combines two shell fabrics in this jacket. The main body uses a 75D midweight two-way stretch face of 100% recycled polyester bonded to a HIPE® membrane in a two-layer construction, rated 10.000 mm water column and 10.000 g/m2/24h. Lighter panels use a 20D face of 100% polyamide with the same HIPE® membrane, rated 10.000 mm and 15.000 g/m2/24h, so performance is not uniform across the garment. Underneath sits the hybrid insulation: 700 fill power duck down where loft matters, combined with synthetic sheet insulation, quilted in the Helium pattern. Critical seams are sealed rather than every seam being taped.
Is this jacket suitable for a full resort day?
Yes — piste and resort skiing is what the Silverchute Helium Down Jacket is made for. The fixed powder skirt snaps into compatible ski pants, the hood adjusts with one hand while you are wearing gloves, the sleeve hems close with velcro straps over gloves, and a goggle wiper cloth is built in. Hand pockets and the ski-pass pocket close with zips, and an inner mesh stash pocket takes a hat or skins-free odds and ends. Where it stops: there are no pit zips or other ventilation openings, so on mild spring afternoons or when you are working hard uphill it holds heat. And at 10.000 mm with only critical seams sealed, sustained rain or hours in wet snow will eventually get through — down loses loft once it is soaked.
What is it made of and how do you wash it?
The fill is 90% duck down and 10% duck feather plus a 100% polyester synthetic insulation; the main shell face is 100% recycled polyester, the lighter shell face 100% polyamide, and the lining is 100% recycled polyester. Machine wash at 40 °C on an extra gentle programme with the zips closed, no bleach, no fabric softener, and remove the goggle wipe cloth first. Drying is the part to plan for: tumble dry inside out on low with tennis balls for at least five hours, taking the jacket out every half hour to shake the down loose by hand. Do not iron and do not dry clean.
What are the sustainability credentials?
The down in the Peak Performance Silverchute Helium Down Jacket is certified to the Responsible Down Standard and carries down sterilization permit no. PA 9900(CN). The jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS, and recycled polyester is used in the main shell face fabric and in the lining.
