A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 31% wool blend knit, worn next to the skin
- Left/right anatomical shape, flat toe seam
- Reinforced sole and elastic arch support
- Contains 31% wool, not for wool-free wearers
- Black is the only colour offered
- Cold wash, line dry only, no tumble drying
The Peak Performance Ski Socks are unisex wool-blend ski socks made for full days inside ski boots. The knit combines 46% polyamide, 31% wool, 21% polypropylene and 2% elastane, and each sock is shaped left and right so it follows the anatomy of one foot. A flat toe seam, a reinforced sole and elastic arch support are what set these ski socks apart from a general-purpose winter sock.
Who are the Peak Performance Ski Socks for?
These are for skiers who want one sock for alpine days, freeride laps and the occasional tour, worn directly against the skin inside the boot. Peak Performance places the Ski Socks in the base-layer position, so they are not intended as a mid or outer layer over another sock. If you need a wool-free sock, the 31% wool content rules these out.
What do the Peak Performance Ski Socks do inside a ski boot?
The flat toe seam keeps pressure off the toes where the liner is tightest, the elastic arch support holds the sock in place when you flex forward, and the stay-up top stops it sliding down the shin during a long run. The reinforced sole adds material where the footbed wears. Total product weight is 80 g.
Which size should you choose?
The Peak Performance Ski Socks are sold in EU shoe-size ranges: 35/37, 37/39, 39/42 and 42/45. Pick the range that contains your shoe size, and check the size chart on this page before ordering. Because each sock is shaped for a specific foot, put the left sock on the left foot so the arch support and toe seam sit where they are meant to.
How are the Peak Performance Ski Socks constructed?
The Peak Performance Ski Socks are a single-layer knitted sock: 46% polyamide for abrasion resistance, 31% wool for the feel against the skin, 21% polypropylene and 2% elastane for stretch and recovery. There is no lining and no membrane — the construction is the knit itself. Three details carry the performance: a flat toe seam that removes a ridge from the most pressure-sensitive part of the boot, a reinforced sole in the zone that sees the most friction against the footbed, and an elastic arch support that is knitted in rather than added as a band.
Are the Peak Performance Ski Socks suitable for ski touring and freeride?
Alpine and resort skiing is the main use. The anatomical left/right shape and the stay-up top also work well for freeride days and for ski touring, and the socks can be worn in snowboard boots. Where they stop: these ski socks have no specified cushioning weight, no stated knit height and no terry padding zones, so if you are looking for a sock chosen specifically by padding thickness, this is not the model to compare on that point. They are also not built up for use over another sock — Peak Performance classifies them as a base layer worn directly against the skin.
What are the Peak Performance Ski Socks made of and how do you wash them?
Body composition is 46% polyamide, 31% wool, 21% polypropylene and 2% elastane. The polyamide-led blend is there for durability over repeated days in a stiff shell, while the wool and polypropylene handle the climate against the foot. Care is deliberately simple but restrictive: machine wash cold at 30°C with similar colours, no bleach, no tumble drying, line dry, no ironing and no dry cleaning. Skipping the tumble dryer matters for the elastane — it is what keeps the arch support and the stay-up top holding their shape over a season. Wash after a few days of use rather than at the end of the winter, since the knit recovers better when it is clean.
What does Peak Performance say about chemicals in these socks?
The Peak Performance Ski Socks are made without intentionally added PFAS. For a next-to-skin product that sits inside a warm, humid boot all day, that is the claim worth knowing.
What should you know before ordering?
The Ski Socks come in one colourway, black, and in four EU shoe-size ranges from 35/37 to 42/45. They are unisex, so the size run covers both men's and women's shoe sizes.
