A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- Heavy pile in 100% recycled polyester
- YKK Vislon® zipper over the full front length
- Made without intentionally added PFAS
- No membrane: not for rain, sleet or wet snow
- Pile without membrane lets wind through
- Bulky under a slim-cut shell; no hood
The Peak Performance Solid Pile Jacket Women is a heavy pile fleece midlayer jacket made from 100% recycled polyester pile, built for cold, dry conditions. Wear it under a ski jacket on cold resort days, or on its own as a relaxed outer layer in the valley and around town. The character of the jacket comes from the pile itself: a deep, soft fibre surface that traps warm air without any membrane.
Who is the Solid Pile Jacket Women for?
This is for a woman who wants one warm, relaxed-fit pile jacket that works on its own in town and pulls on under a shell on cold ski days. It also suits winter walking, travel and après-ski. It is not the jacket for rain, sleet or wet snow, and not for exposed, windy ridges or long lift rides in strong wind when worn as the outer layer. Skip it as a thin layer under a close-fitting shell, and look elsewhere if you need a RECCO reflector.
How warm is the Peak Performance Solid Pile Jacket Women?
Warmth comes from the heavy pile fabric rather than from a membrane or a synthetic fill. A double layer collar closes the gap at the neck, and elastic binding along the collar, centre front zipper, bottom hem and cuffs keeps warm air inside while you move. Because there is no membrane, water vapour passes out very freely, which keeps you comfortable on uphill sections and cold-weather walks. The same open construction means wind moves through it, so add a shell when the wind picks up.
Which size should you choose?
The Solid Pile Jacket Women has a relaxed cut and comes in XS, S, M and L. The relaxed shape leaves room for a base layer or a thin midlayer underneath and sits comfortably over the hips without pulling. Check the size chart on this page against your own chest and length measurements before you order. If you plan to wear it under a slim-cut ski jacket, keep in mind that the pile takes up volume and needs a shell with room to spare.
How is the Peak Performance Solid Pile Jacket Women built?
The Peak Performance Solid Pile Jacket Women is a single-fabric pile fleece construction: 100% recycled polyester pile with narrow flatlock covering seams, so the seam allowances lie flat against the skin instead of forming ridges under a backpack strap or a ski jacket. The full-length front closure uses a YKK Vislon zipper, a moulded plastic tooth design that stays easy to run with cold hands. A hanger loop at the neck lets it dry on a hook after a day out. There is no hood, no chest pocket and no underarm ventilation: this is a warmth layer, not a shell.
Is the Solid Pile Jacket Women suitable for skiing?
On the hill, the Solid Pile Jacket Women works as the warm layer between your base layer and a ski jacket on cold resort days, and the relaxed cut keeps your shoulders and arms free on the lift and in the turn. Worn on its own it belongs to the dry side of winter: valley walks, the drive to the resort, the terrace after the last run, and cold errands in town. Its limits are clear. Without a membrane there is no stated water or wind protection, so persistent snowfall, sleet or a windy ridge call for a shell over the top. One hand pocket type is fitted, with binding rather than a zipper, so it is not where you keep a lift pass or a phone on a chairlift.
What is the Solid Pile Jacket Women made of and how do you wash it?
The shell fabric of the Peak Performance Solid Pile Jacket Women is 100% recycled polyester pile. Polyester pile dries quickly after a damp day and keeps its loft through repeated washing, which matters for a fleece that gets worn several times a week. Wash it cold at 30 °C with similar colours and close the zippers first, so the Vislon teeth cannot catch the pile surface. Skip the tumble dryer and line dry it in the shade; heat flattens the fibre and takes warmth out of the fabric. Do not bleach, do not dry clean and do not have it professionally wet cleaned. If you press it, use a cool iron.
What makes the Solid Pile Jacket Women a more responsible choice?
Two concrete points. The shell of the Peak Performance Solid Pile Jacket Women is 100% recycled polyester, so the fibre comes from existing material rather than from new polyester. And the jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS, the fluorinated chemistry usually found in water-repellent finishes. As a dry-weather pile layer it does not rely on such a finish to do its job.
