What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • YKK Vislon half zip to regulate airflow fast
  • 8% elastane stretch, soft cotton-blend hand
  • Double-layer collar, main fabric at cuffs and hem
  • 82% cotton: holds moisture and dries slowly
  • Cropped cut, less lower-back coverage
  • Open hand pockets, no closure, and no hood

The Peak Performance Sportstech Half Zip is a women's cotton-blend stretch midlayer with a cropped cut, built for training, travel and everyday wear rather than for technical mountain use. The fabric is 82% cotton, 10% recycled polyester and 8% elastane, so it has the hand of a sweatshirt with real give through the shoulders. There is no membrane and no insulation, which makes it a layer you wear on its own or under a shell jacket in mild conditions.

Who is the Sportstech Half Zip for?

Choose the Peak Performance Sportstech Half Zip if you want one soft, stretchy half-zip for the gym, the drive to the hill, the flight and the evening afterwards. It is not the right midlayer for high-output days: at 82% cotton the fabric holds moisture and dries slowly compared with a synthetic or merino midlayer. It is also not an outer layer, because no membrane, taped seams or water-repellent finish is part of this garment. If you want coverage over the hips and lower back, a standard-length midlayer suits you better.

How warm is the Sportstech Half Zip?

Warmth here comes from the fabric itself; the Peak Performance Sportstech Half Zip carries no insulation fill and no lining. The double-layer collar and the main fabric at the cuffs and hem close off the openings, and the YKK Vislon® half zip lets you dump heat or close up for more coverage at the throat. Plan on mild days and indoor training, with a shell or an insulated jacket over the top once it turns properly cold.

Which size should you choose?

The Sportstech Half Zip has a regular fit and a cropped length that sits above the hip, intended to pair with high-waisted pants. Sizes run XS to XL, with XS offered in Sand Fog only. Measure your chest and compare it with the Peak Performance women's top size chart before you order; the 8% elastane leaves room for a base layer underneath.

How is the Peak Performance Sportstech Half Zip constructed?

The Peak Performance Sportstech Half Zip is built from a single stretch fabric with no lining behind it: 82% cotton for the soft, cotton-jersey hand, 8% elastane for stretch and recovery, and 10% recycled polyester. Active cutlines follow the movement of the arms and shoulders, and the same main fabric returns at the sleeve cuffs and the bottom hem instead of a contrast rib. The collar is doubled for structure. Closure is a YKK Vislon® half zip with moulded plastic teeth. There is a P-logo at the chest and a Peak Performance print across the back. No hood.

Can you wear the Sportstech Half Zip for skiing?

Under a shell jacket in mild conditions, the Sportstech Half Zip does the job of a soft midlayer: long sleeves, a cropped hem that stays clear of a pant waistband, and a half zip you can open while you ride up. Where it stops is the moment the effort or the weather rises. Cotton-dominant fabric soaks up sweat and gives it back slowly, so ski touring and other high-output days are better served by a synthetic or wool layer. Worn on the outside it has nothing to offer against wind or snow. The two hand pockets are open, with no zip or snap, so a pass, keys or a phone are not secure in them on the move.

How do you wash the Sportstech Half Zip?

The shell of the Peak Performance Sportstech Half Zip is 82% cotton, 10% recycled polyester and 8% elastane, and it wants a simple, low-heat routine. Machine wash at 40 °C, inside out, with similar colours and the zipper closed so the teeth do not catch other garments. Skip fabric softener, which coats the fibres, and skip bleach entirely. Do not tumble dry: line dry in the shade instead, which is also the kinder option for the back print. Do not iron, and in particular keep the iron off the print. Dry cleaning and professional wet cleaning are both out.

What is the sustainability story?

One concrete figure, no more: 10% of the shell fabric of the Sportstech Half Zip is recycled polyester, blended into the cotton and elastane rather than used as a separate panel. Peak Performance builds this kind of everyday half-zip to be worn year-round rather than one season, and the care routine above is the part you control: cold-ish washing, no dryer, no softener. A cotton-blend knit that is washed gently and dried flat in the shade stays in rotation far longer than one that goes through the tumble dryer every week.
