What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 175 gsm flat fleece: warmth with no bulk
  • Stretch panels: 77% recycled polyamide, elastane
  • Grid-back jersey wicks moisture and dries fast
  • No membrane: needs a shell for wind and rain
  • Light warmth only, too thin for standing still
  • One zipped hand pocket, no chest pocket, no hood

The Peak Performance Swift Motion Midlayer Men is a half-zip fleece midlayer built as a thin warm layer for golf and other active days in changing weather. It is made from a 175 gsm lightweight flat fleece with a smooth face and a jersey back with a grid structure, so it adds warmth without bulk and dries quickly. Stretch panels in 77% recycled polyamide with 23% elastane keep the shoulders and arms free through a full swing.

Who is this fleece midlayer for?

It suits a golfer or active outdoor user who wants a thin, quick-drying half-zip fleece that adds a little warmth and freedom of movement, and who already owns a shell for wind and rain. The Peak Performance Swift Motion Midlayer Men is not an outer layer: it has no membrane and no water-repellent finish, so rain, wet snow and strong wind call for a jacket over the top. Leave it if you want an insulated jacket, a hood, or more storage than one zipped hand pocket.

How warm is the Swift Motion Midlayer Men?

Warmth comes from the fabric alone: 175 gsm flat fleece with a grid-structured jersey back and no insulation fill. That places the Peak Performance Swift Motion Midlayer Men in the light-warmth bracket, enough for moving in cool, shifting weather and too thin for standing still in deep cold. The fleece moves moisture away from the skin and dries quickly, and the stand-up collar closes the gap at the neck under a jacket or vest.

Which size should you choose?

The cut is a regular fit, shaped for freedom of movement rather than a close athletic line, so there is room for a base layer underneath and space to pull a shell over the top. Sizes run S, M, L and XL, with S offered in Black and Blue Shadow running from M to XL. Compare your chest and sleeve measurements with the Peak Performance size chart on this page before you order.

How is the Peak Performance Swift Motion Midlayer built?

The Peak Performance Swift Motion Midlayer Men is a two-fabric fleece. The main body is a 175 gsm flat fleece: a flat, smooth face on the outside and a jersey back with a grid structure against the skin, which is what moves sweat away and lets the fabric dry fast. There is no separate lining, so the whole garment stays thin and air-permeable. Panels of 77% recycled polyamide with 23% elastane sit where movement matters and add stretch. The half-zip front runs on a YKK reversed coil zip, and colour-blocked panels break up the body, with Peak Performance branding at the chest and a P-logo at the back.

Can you ski in the Swift Motion Midlayer Men?

Yes, as a mid layer. Under a hardshell on a resort day or on a ski tour, this fleece does what a thin layering piece should do: it carries moisture outward, it dries between runs, and the stand-up collar sits neatly under a jacket collar without bunching. What it does not do is replace any part of your shell. The Peak Performance Swift Motion Midlayer Men carries no ski-specific features at all, so there is no powder skirt, no RECCO reflector and no pass pocket, and storage stops at one zipped hand pocket. Its home discipline is golf, where a thin fleece that lets the arms swing freely matters more than lift-pass logistics. For hiking and everyday wear it works the same way, as a light fleece layer rather than a jacket.

What is it made of and how do you wash it?

Composition is 70% recycled polyester with 30% polyester in the main fleece and 77% recycled polyamide with 23% elastane in the stretch panels — a synthetic build that keeps almost no water and shrugs off repeated washing. Machine wash at 40 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with the zips closed and with similar colours. Skip fabric softener, which coats the fibres and slows drying. Do not tumble dry and do not bleach; line dry in the shade instead, and take the garment out of the drum promptly so the print does not crease. If you iron, use low heat and never run the iron over the print.

What makes this a more responsible choice?

Both fabrics in the Peak Performance Swift Motion Midlayer Men use recycled content: 70% recycled polyester in the fleece body and 77% recycled polyamide in the stretch panels. The garment is also made without intentionally added PFAS, which is a direct consequence of having no water-repellent finish on it in the first place — one more reason to pair it with a shell rather than ask it to handle weather on its own.
