What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

The Peak Performance Trail Longsleeve Men is an ultralight long-sleeved technical t-shirt for mountain biking and trail riding in mild to warm conditions. It is built from a 94 gsm open-structure jersey in 100% recycled polyester, weighs 190 grams and carries a raised grid structure across the back panel so the fabric stays off your skin when you sweat. It is a breathable layer, not a weather layer.

Who is the Trail Longsleeve Men for?

This long-sleeve suits riders and trail runners who want loose, ultralight sleeve coverage against sun and branches on warm sessions, and who will add a shell or midlayer when conditions turn. It also works as a light layer under a jacket and is plain enough for everyday wear. It is not a compressive race-cut base layer, and it is not for riders who want the odour control of wool: the fabric is 100% polyester.

How warm and weatherproof is the Trail Longsleeve Men?

Treat the Peak Performance Trail Longsleeve Men as a moisture-wicking, quick-drying shirt rather than as protection. A 94 gsm open-structure jersey adds essentially no insulation, and there is no membrane, no water column and no water-repellent finish. In rain or wind you need a shell over it; in the cold you need insulation over it. In mild to warm air the open structure moves heat and moisture out while the long sleeves cover your arms.

Which size should you choose?

The Trail Longsleeve Men has a relaxed cut: loose through chest and waist, with room to move on the bike and space for a thin layer underneath. It is available in S, M, L and XL. Compare your chest measurement with the Peak Performance size chart on this page before you order. If you want a shirt that sits tight to the skin, this relaxed cut will not give you that.

What is the Trail Longsleeve Men made of and how does the back panel work?

The Peak Performance Trail Longsleeve Men is a single-layer garment: an ultralight open-structure jersey of 94 gsm, knitted from 100% recycled polyester, with no lining and no membrane. The open structure is the whole point, because air passes straight through the knit and moisture moves out instead of pooling in the fabric. Across the back panel the knit is built up into a raised grid, which lifts most of the fabric surface off your back so a sweaty shirt does not flatten against your skin. The jersey stretches with you, and an elastic jersey cuff finishes the hem. Total weight is 190 grams.

Is the Trail Longsleeve Men suitable for trail running and hiking too?

Yes. Mountain biking and trail riding in mild to warm conditions are what the Trail Longsleeve Men is aimed at, and trail running and hiking ask the same things of a shirt: low weight, fast drying and arm coverage without heat build-up. Worn on its own it handles warm days and sun exposure; worn under a midlayer or shell it is thin enough not to bulk out the layering. Where it stops is clear. There are no pockets, no zip and no hood, so this is not a piece you ride in when the weather is against you. For wind, rain or cold, it is the layer underneath, never the outer one.

How do you wash and care for the Trail Longsleeve Men?

The 100% recycled polyester jersey is machine washable at 40 °C on a delicate cycle. Turn the shirt inside out, wash it with similar colours and leave the fabric softener out: softener coats the fibres and slows the moisture transport the open-structure knit is built for. Tumble drying on low is allowed, and line drying in the shade is the gentler route. If you iron, keep the iron cool and stay off the print. Professional cleaning is possible as dry clean P on a delicate process or as mild professional wet cleaning.

What makes the Trail Longsleeve Men more sustainable?

Two concrete points. The shell fabric of the Peak Performance Trail Longsleeve Men is 100% recycled polyester, and the shirt is made without intentionally added PFAS. Since the garment carries no water-repellent finish, there is no chemistry on the surface to wash off over time either, and the care routine above is what keeps the jersey performing season after season.
