What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • Seam-sealed HIPE® 2L shell, 10.000 mm waterproof
  • Reinforced palm and thumb with soft PU leather
  • Face fabric 100% recycled polyester, no added PFAS
  • Mitten: no dexterity for buckles, zips or phone
  • Elastic wrist only, no long gauntlet cuff
  • 10.000 mm is mid-level for long wet spring days

The Peak Performance Unite HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Mitten is a waterproof, insulated ski mitten made to work as the outer layer on your hand on resort and off-piste days. Its two-layer HIPE® membrane is rated 10.000 mm water column and 10.000 g/m²/24h breathability, with sealed seams and synthetic sheet insulation behind a 75D two-way stretch face fabric. The palm and thumb are reinforced and faced with soft PU leather for grip on poles.

Who is this mitten for?

The Unite HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Mitten suits a skier with cold hands who wants one warm, genuinely waterproof hand layer for lift-served days, freeride laps and touring descents. Because it is a mitten, your fingers share one chamber: that is what keeps them warm, and it is also why you will take it off to adjust bindings, boot buckles, zips or a phone. For ice tools and technical climbing, a five-finger glove is the better tool.

How waterproof and windproof is the Unite mitten?

The HIPE® membrane is a full thermoplastic polyurethane film, so the Unite HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Mitten blocks wind completely, and every seam is sealed. At 10.000 mm water column and 10.000 g/m²/24h it is a mid-level waterproof and breathable package: solid for a normal cold ski day, less convincing in hours of wet spring snow or on a fast, sweaty skin track.

Which glove size should you choose?

Sizing is numeric, from 6 to 11, with an ergonomic, hand-mapped shape and an elastic wrist that pulls in under or over a jacket cuff. Measure the circumference of your palm and compare it with the size chart on this page; if you are between two sizes, the larger one leaves room for warm air. Size availability differs per colour: BLACK and PINE NEEDLE run 6 to 10, BLUE SHADOW runs 8 to 11.

How is the Peak Performance Unite HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Mitten built?

The Peak Performance Unite HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Mitten uses a two-layer construction: a 75D midweight face fabric of 100% recycled polyester bonded to the brand's own HIPE® membrane, a film of 100% thermoplastic polyurethane rated 10.000 mm / 10.000 g/m²/24h. All seams are sealed, so the stitch holes do not become the weak point in wet snow. Behind the shell sits synthetic sheet insulation and a polyester lining. Sheet insulation holds its loft when the mitten is squeezed around a pole grip, which keeps the warm layer where your hand actually is. The face fabric has two-way stretch, so the mitten follows your hand rather than stiffening into a block.

Is the Unite mitten right for resort skiing and freeride?

Resort and all-round winter skiing is the home ground of the Unite HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Mitten. It handles chairlift wind, falling snow and the repeated contact with poles, edges and ski bases that wears gloves out, thanks to the reinforced palm and thumb and the soft PU leather palm. It also works for freeride laps and touring descents. Where it stops: the wrist closes with elastic only, without a long gauntlet cuff, so burying your arm in deep snow can let snow in at the cuff. There is no touchscreen fingertip, so your phone stays in your pocket until the mitten comes off, and there is no reflector built in for avalanche search equipment.

What is it made of and how do you wash it?

Shell face: 100% recycled polyester with a 100% thermoplastic polyurethane membrane. The second shell panel is 100% polyurethane on the outside with a polyester backing, which is the soft PU leather in the palm. Filling and lining are 100% polyester. That full-synthetic build is the reason the Unite HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Mitten can go in the machine: wash at 40°C with similar colours, close the zip first, skip fabric softener and bleach, and take the mitten out as soon as the cycle ends. Line dry, or tumble dry on low; a low tumble cycle helps revive the water-repellent behaviour of the face fabric. Do not iron, do not dry clean and do not have it professionally wet cleaned.

What makes this mitten a more responsible choice?

Two things are concrete on the Unite HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Mitten. The shell face fabric is 100% recycled polyester, and the mitten is made without intentionally added PFAS. Peak Performance builds in Sweden around longevity, so the reinforced palm and thumb are as much a durability decision as a grip one.
