What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

Product information
  • HIPE® ACE 3-layer: 20.000 mm, fully seam sealed
  • RECCO® reflector and zipped transceiver pocket
  • Snow gaiters plus loops for a jacket powder skirt
  • No insulation: warmth comes from your layers
  • Half-leg vents only, no full-length side zips
  • Relaxed, roomy leg; not for a slim fit

The Peak Performance WeiTien Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants are a men's three-layer waterproof shell bib built for freeride skiing and ski touring. The HIPE® ACE laminate is rated 20.000 mm water column and 20.000 g/m²/24h breathability, and the whole garment is fully seam sealed. The distinguishing detail is the low-profile bib: it sits high at the front and back for snow coverage, but stays slim enough under a jacket, and it was co-created with WeiTien Ho.

Who are these ski bib pants for?

This is a bib for a skier who hikes or skins for their lines and wants one shell that works inbounds and in the backcountry. A zippered pocket with transceiver loop and a RECCO® Rescue System reflector cover the safety side. The Peak Performance WeiTien Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants are not for cold, static lift days on their own, and not for anyone who wants a slim, close-fitting leg.

How waterproof and breathable are they?

The three-layer HIPE® ACE construction combines a 70D ripstop face fabric with a polypropylene membrane and a soft tricot backer, at 20.000 mm and 20.000 g/m²/24h. Every seam is sealed and the exposed zippers are YKK AquaGuard®, so sitting in wet snow and skinning through falling snow are both covered. Heat management runs through half-leg zippered ventilation rather than full-length side zips.

Which size should you choose?

The Peak Performance WeiTien Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants have a relaxed cut, available in S, M, L and XL. The relaxed leg already leaves room for a base layer and a mid layer, so there is no reason to size up for layering. Check your measurements against the size chart on this page. Adjustable suspenders and Velcro straps at the waistband let you fine-tune the fit, and jacket loops snap the bib into the powder skirt system of a matching ski jacket.

How is the three-layer construction built?

The Peak Performance WeiTien Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants use a bonded three-layer laminate: a 70D lightweight ripstop face fabric with a paper-like hand, a 100% polypropylene HIPE® ACE membrane, and a tricot backer that replaces a loose lining. Because the backer is bonded rather than hung, there is no inner fabric to twist around your leg or to soak up melting snow. The laminate is rated 20K/20K and has two-way stretch, so the fabric follows the knee and hip instead of resisting them. Articulated legs and a full front closure with a 2-way reversed coil YKK zipper complete the shell; a zip fly means you do not have to unclip the suspenders for every stop.

Are they suitable for ski touring and freeride?

Freeride is the primary discipline. The bib front sits high at the front and back, snow gaiters with anti-slip elastic grip the boot, and the loops at the waist connect to a jacket's powder skirt system, which keeps deep snow out after a fall. For touring, the half-leg zippered ventilation is the limit to understand: it dumps heat on a skin track, but it moves less air than a bib with full-length side zips, and it does not let you pull the pants on over boots. The 70D ripstop is a mid-weight face fabric, so this is a durable freeride shell rather than an ultralight touring bib. There is no insulation at all, which makes it versatile in spring and on active days but leaves warmth on long lift rides entirely to your base and mid layers.

What are the materials and how do you wash them?

The face of the main shell is 60% recycled polyamide and 40% polyamide, over a 100% polypropylene membrane and a 100% polyester backer, with a second shell panel in 100% polyester. Polyamide ripstop is the reason this bib tolerates ski edges, rock and boot buckles better than a lighter weave. Wash it at 40°C on a delicate cycle with liquid detergent, close the zippers first, and rinse twice. Skip fabric softener, which clogs the membrane, and do not bleach or dry clean. The water repellent treatment on the face fabric is revived by heat, so tumble dry low or use a cool iron after washing, avoiding any print.

What about recycled content?

The face fabric of the main shell of the Peak Performance WeiTien Ridge Ace Ski Bib Pants contains 60% recycled polyamide, which is the largest single fabric surface in the garment.

3L
3L
3L refers to a three-layer construction in which the outer fabric, membrane, and a thin backer layer are combined into one unified layer. This design offers excellent protection against wind and water while maintaining high breathability. Because 3L is unlined, it feels light and flexible and functions as a versatile shell that allows your warmth and comfort to be determined by the layers you wear underneath. As a result, 3L provides a well-balanced combination of protection, freedom of movement, and comfort in winter conditions.
Peak Performance
Peak Performance began in 1986 in Åre, Sweden, where a group of ski enthusiasts decided to create ski clothing that was as stylish as it was functional. The brand is known for minimalist Scandinavian design and technical innovation. What once started as a local project is now a world leader in outdoor clothing, with products that combine sustainability and performance.
