More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.
GOOD TO KNOW
- You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
- Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
- Returns are at your own risk and expense.
- If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
- If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 60 g/m2 insulation in body, sleeves and hood
- 10.000 mm HIPE® membrane, fully sealed seams
- Snow skirt snaps into compatible ski pants
- 10.000 mm reaches its limit in heavy rain
- Fixed insulation: warmth can't be adjusted
- Regular cut: little room for a thick midlayer
The Peak Performance Whitelight APX HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Jacket is a men's insulated ski jacket for full days at the resort, built on a two-layer HIPE® membrane with a 10.000 mm water column and fully sealed seams. The warmth is already in the shell: 60 g/m2 Pinneco Mantle™ synthetic insulation in body, sleeves and hood, with Solarcore® insulation added at the shoulders and elbows.
Who is the Whitelight APX built for?
This Peak Performance insulated shell jacket is made for the resort skier who wants one jacket for the whole lift day: a fixed snow skirt with a snap-in ski pant system, a helmet compatible hood, a ski pass pocket and a RECCO® reflector. It also carries over to cold, wet winter days in town and to off-piste runs taken from the lifts. It is not a touring jacket, because the insulation runs through the whole garment and the only ventilation is the zipped vents under the sleeves. For technical climbing the fixed snow skirt and the jacket volume get in the way of a harness.
How waterproof and how warm is this ski jacket?
The HIPE® hydrophobic PU membrane is rated at 10.000 mm water column and 10.000 g/m2/24h breathability, with fully sealed seams, YKK AquaGuard® zippers on every exposed zip and a water repellent treatment made without intentionally added PFAS. That covers snowfall and wet chairlift seats; sustained heavy rain is where 10.000 mm reaches its limit. The 60 g/m2 fill is light to medium insulation, enough for active skiing around freezing rather than for long static stops in deep cold.
Which size should you choose?
The Whitelight APX has a regular cut and runs from S to 2XL, with room for a base layer and a thin midlayer underneath. A thick fleece or a down midlayer is a tight fit over an already insulated shell. Check the size chart on this page against your chest measurement, and size up if you sit between two sizes.
What does the HIPE® 2L construction do?
The Peak Performance Whitelight APX HIPE® 2L Insulated Shell Jacket pairs a 4-way stretch face fabric of 88% recycled polyamide and 12% elastane with the brand's own HIPE® hydrophobic PU membrane, bonded into a two-layer laminate and backed by a separate lining. Water column is 10.000 mm, moisture vapour transfer 10.000 g/m2/24h, and all seams are sealed. Inside, Pinneco Mantle™ synthetic insulation sits at 60 g/m2 in body, sleeves and hood, with a 2 mm body mapped construction and Solarcore® insulation at the shoulders and elbows, where a backpack and a chairlift back press the insulation flat. A body mapped stretch lining of 89% polyamide and 11% elastane keeps the stretch of the face fabric usable.
Is the Whitelight APX a good resort jacket?
Resort skiing is what this jacket was built around. The fixed snow skirt snaps into compatible ski pants to close the gap at the waist, the hood is ski helmet compatible and adjusts in three directions through Cohæsive™ cord hardware, and a fleece lined chin guard sits behind the two-way YKK AquaGuard® front zipper. Storage is sorted for a lift day: zippered hand and chest pockets, a mesh phone pocket inside the chest pocket, a ski pass pocket on the sleeve, an inner mesh stash pocket and a goggle wiper cloth. A RECCO® reflector is built in for off-piste runs dropped from the lifts. Where the Whitelight APX stops is uphill travel — with insulation through the body, sleeves and hood and ventilation limited to the zips under the sleeves, heat builds up on a skin track. The warmth is also fixed: you cannot take a layer out of this jacket when the day turns mild.
What are the materials and how do you care for it?
The face fabric is 88% recycled polyamide with 12% elastane for stretch, the membrane is 100% polyurethane, the filling is 100% recycled polyester and the two linings are polyamide, the second one blended with 11% elastane. Elastane-rich shells dislike heat and harsh chemicals, so machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with zips closed and a technical detergent. Skip fabric softener and bleach, and take out the goggle wipe cloth before the wash. A low tumble dry afterwards reactivates the water repellent treatment; drip dry in the shade if you prefer, and do not iron or dry clean.
What makes this jacket more sustainable?
The Whitelight APX insulated shell jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS, its face fabric contains 88% recycled polyamide and the synthetic filling is 100% recycled polyester.
