What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

Is your purchase not quite what you expected or is the size incorrect? No problem, you can easily return your order to us. You may try on and view an item as you would in a shop, but there are some rules.

GOOD TO KNOW

  • You have 14 days from receipt of your order to register your return.
  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.
  • Almost all outerwear and trousers are delivered with a large yellow return label. Do not remove this until you decide to keep the item! Once this vignette has been removed, there is no way we can return the item.
  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.
  • If you have received an incorrect or damaged item, please always contact us a.s.a.p. and include photos of the product and the labels so we can see which item/defect is concerned.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 10.000 mm HIPE® membrane, fully seam sealed
  • Solarcore® at shoulders and elbows for warmth
  • Snow skirt with pant connection and RECCO®
  • 10.000 mm is resort level, not a storm shell
  • Fixed 60 g/m2 insulation, too warm for touring
  • Hood and snow skirt are fixed, not removable

The Peak Performance Whitelight APX Jacket is an insulated ski jacket for men built for resort skiing: a two-layer construction with the brand's own HIPE® membrane rated 10.000 mm water column and 10.000 g/m2/24h, fully seam sealed, with 60 g/m2 synthetic insulation already inside. It is a one-jacket solution rather than a shell you have to pair with an insulator, complete with fixed snow skirt, ski pass pocket and RECCO® reflector.

Who is the Whitelight APX Jacket for?

This Peak Performance ski jacket suits the resort skier who wants warmth, waterproofing and full ski detailing in a single layer, and who does not want to build a system from a separate shell and midlayer. It is less suited to high-output uphill days: with 60 g/m2 insulation in the body, sleeves and hood and a membrane rated 10.000 g/m2/24h, it carries more warmth and moves less moisture than sustained skinning demands. For prolonged heavy rain or wet snow, a storm-grade shell is the better tool.

How warm is the Whitelight APX Jacket?

Insulation sits at 60 g/m2 in the body, sleeves and hood, using Pinneco Mantle™ with Solarcore® placed at the shoulders and elbows, plus a 2 mm body-mapped zone. That is a mid-weight synthetic level: comfortable for lift-served days in normal winter conditions, not a substitute for a heavy down parka in deep cold with no extra layers. Zippered ventilation under the sleeves is the only way to shed heat, as the insulation is fixed.

Which size should you choose?

The Whitelight APX Jacket has a regular fit and runs from S to 2XL. It is designed as an insulated shell: wear it over a base layer and, if needed, a thin midlayer. Because the insulation and the stretch lining are built in, there is no room planned for a thick fleece. Articulated sleeves and 4-way stretch fabric keep the arms free. Check the size chart on this page against your chest measurement before ordering.

How is the Peak Performance Whitelight APX Jacket constructed?

The Peak Performance Whitelight APX Jacket uses a two-layer build: a 70D midweight 4-way stretch face fabric bonded to the HIPE® hydrophobic PU membrane, rated 10K/10K, with all seams fully sealed. Inside sit two linings, a 100% polyamide lining and a body-mapped stretch lining of 89% polyamide and 11% elastane, so the jacket moves with you rather than against you. The insulation combines Pinneco Mantle™ at 60 g/m2 with Solarcore® panels at the shoulders and elbows, the two areas that take the most contact from a pack or a fall. A water-repellent finish is applied to the face fabric, made without intentionally added PFAS.

Is the Whitelight APX Jacket suitable for a full day on the piste?

Yes, and that is exactly what the ski detailing is for. The fixed hood takes a ski helmet and adjusts three ways for height, width and volume, with Cohæsive™ cord hardware. The full-length two-way YKK AquaGuard® front zipper lets you open the hem while seated on a chairlift, and all exposed zippers are YKK AquaGuard®. A fixed snow skirt with a snap-in system connects to compatible ski pants, elastic wrist gaiters with thumbholes close the gap to your gloves, and a RECCO® reflector is built in for off-piste runs taken from the lift. Where the Whitelight APX Jacket stops is uphill travel and technical alpine use: the hood and snow skirt cannot be removed, the insulation cannot be reduced, and the two-layer construction with a full lining is bulkier and less compressible than a three-layer shell.

What is the Whitelight APX Jacket made of and how do you wash it?

The fillings are 100% recycled polyester and 100% rubber foam for the Solarcore® elements; the linings are polyamide, one of them with elastane for stretch. Machine wash the jacket at 30 °C on a delicate cycle, inside out, with the zippers closed and the goggle wiper cloth removed. Use a liquid technical detergent, rinse twice and skip fabric softener, which clogs the face fabric. A low tumble dry afterwards reactivates the water-repellent treatment, so it is worth doing rather than skipping. Do not iron, do not dry clean and keep it out of direct sunlight when air drying.

What does Peak Performance do on sustainability here?

Two concrete points apply to this ski jacket: it is made without intentionally added PFAS, and the main filling is 100% recycled polyester. Both reduce impact without changing the way the jacket performs on the hill.
