What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • Shell 1 is 100% recycled polyester
  • Woven panels at wear points for wind protection
  • Full-length YKK Vislon zip with cord puller
  • No membrane: not an outer layer in rain or snow
  • Open hand pockets, nothing zips shut
  • No hood, so head protection comes from a shell

The Peak Performance Wildrush Pile Jacket Men is a stretch pile fleece midlayer, built to sit under a ski shell in winter and to work on its own as a light jacket in milder weather. Woven panels are placed where the jacket takes the most wear, adding durability and some wind protection, while the rest stays soft and stretchy. Shell 1 is 100% recycled polyester and the jacket is made without intentionally added PFAS.

Who is the Wildrush Pile Jacket Men for?

This is for the skier or hiker who wants a soft pile midlayer with a bit of stretch: under a shell on the mountain, over a t-shirt on a trail hike, and as a warm layer afterwards. It is not an outer layer for rain or wet snow, because the Peak Performance Wildrush Pile Jacket Men has no membrane and no water column. There is no hood, and the hand pockets are open, so valuables are not secured on a chairlift.

How warm is the Wildrush Pile Jacket Men?

Warmth comes from the pile fabric itself; there is no separate insulation layer in this jacket. That makes it a good moving layer for cool and cold days, and a sensible second layer under a shell when temperatures drop. For standing still in deep cold, add an insulated jacket over it, because the pile is air-permeable and only the woven panels block wind.

Which size should you choose?

The Peak Performance Wildrush Pile Jacket Men has a regular fit and a hip-length cut, so it layers over a base layer or t-shirt without bunching and still fits under a ski shell. Elastic binding at the collar, cuffs and hem keeps the edges close without compressing. Available in S to 2XL; check your chest measurement against the Peak Performance size chart on this page before ordering.

How is the Wildrush Pile Jacket Men constructed?

The Peak Performance Wildrush Pile Jacket Men pairs a stretch pile fabric with woven panels. The pile gives the jacket its lofted, textured surface and its warmth; the woven panels are positioned over the areas that see abrasion and wind, so the jacket keeps its shape and cuts some airflow where it matters. A full-length YKK Vislon front zipper with a cord puller runs the length of the jacket, and elastic binding finishes the collar, the centre front, the cuffs and the bottom hem. Two open hand pockets, a hanger loop outside the neck and a woven front label complete the build. There is no membrane and no lining, which keeps the jacket soft and air-permeable rather than weatherproof.

Is the Wildrush Pile Jacket Men suitable for skiing?

As a midlayer, yes. The hip-length cut sits under a hardshell or insulated ski jacket without riding up, and the stretch pile moves with you on the chairlift and in the turns. Off the hill it works as a standalone light jacket in spring, on trail hikes and as the layer you pull on after an activity. Where it stops is clear: with no membrane, no taped seams and no stated water repellency, the Peak Performance Wildrush Pile Jacket Men should not be your outer layer in rain or wet snow. The open hand pockets have no closures, so a lift pass or phone needs a pocket in the shell over it. And without a hood, head protection has to come from your shell or a hat.

Which materials are used, and how do you wash it?

Shell 1 is 100% recycled polyester and Shell 2 is 100% polyester, so the whole jacket is synthetic: it dries quickly, keeps its loft after repeated washing and does not absorb much moisture. Machine wash at 40 degrees Celsius with similar colours and close the zippers first, which stops the Vislon teeth catching the pile. Tumble dry on low or line drip dry in the shade. Do not bleach, do not iron, and do not dry clean or professional wet clean. Washing the jacket regularly rather than rarely keeps the pile open and lofted.

What makes the Wildrush Pile Jacket Men a more responsible choice?

Shell 1 is 100% recycled polyester, and the Peak Performance Wildrush Pile Jacket Men is made without intentionally added PFAS. It is also designed for circularity, which is Peak Performance's approach to building a garment so that its materials and construction can be dealt with at the end of its wearing life rather than only at the start.
