What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.

Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.

Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.

Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.

Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?

  • Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.

  • Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.

  • Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.

Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

  • Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
  • After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

  • Returns are at your own risk and expense.
  • If you return part of your order, we will only refund the amount of the returned items and not other costs such as shipping costs.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:

1. Check your items

√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired

√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?

√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?

2. Submit your return online

Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).

You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.

3. Pack your return

√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.

Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged

√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel

√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel

√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

Product information
  • 150 gsm jersey: wears solo or under a shell
  • 15% wool for temperature regulation
  • Made without intentionally added PFAS
  • No membrane: no wind or water protection
  • Regular cut, not a compressive base layer
  • Wool programme only, no tumble dry, no iron

The Peak Performance Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women is a midweight short-sleeve tee in a 150 gsm wool-blend jersey, made for hiking and trail activities in mild to warm weather. It is built to work two ways: on its own as a tee, or as a short-sleeve base layer under a midlayer and shell. The fabric mix is the argument - 85% polyester for durability, 15% wool for temperature regulation, with stretch for free movement.

Who is this tee for?

The Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women suits a hiker or trail runner who wants one midweight top for warm days that still layers under a shell when the weather turns. It is not a weather layer: there is no membrane and no coating, so wind and rain go straight through. It is also not the right choice if you want a tight, compressive next-to-skin base layer, or if you need maximum odour resistance over several days - at 15% wool the natural benefits are more limited than in a high-merino base layer.

How warm is a 150 gsm wool-blend jersey?

Warmth here comes from the fabric alone. The Peak Performance Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women has no insulation, and with short sleeves and a single-layer 150 gsm jersey it is a warm-weather top. As soon as temperatures drop, treat it as the first layer and add a midlayer and a shell on top rather than relying on it by itself. For winter skiing it only makes sense underneath both.

Which size should you choose?

The cut is a regular fit: it sits comfortably against the skin without compressing, and leaves room to move. The Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women comes in S, M and L. Check the Peak Performance women's size chart against your chest and waist measurements before ordering, and keep in mind that a regular cut sits looser against the body than a dedicated slim base-layer top.

How is the Peak Performance Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women constructed?

This is a single-layer jersey garment, not a laminate. The Peak Performance Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women uses a midweight 150 gsm jersey knitted from 85% polyester and 15% wool, with stretch built into the fabric rather than added through panels. The polyester carries the durability and keeps the knit stable through repeated washing; the wool content handles temperature regulation against the skin. There is no membrane, no coating and no lining - what you feel on the inside is the same fabric you see on the outside. A Peak Performance logo print sits on the chest and a seasonal graphic runs across the back.

Is the Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women suitable for hiking and trail days?

Hiking and trail activities in warmer weather are exactly what this tee is for. On a summer approach or a trail run it works on its own, with the short sleeves and stretch jersey keeping the garment out of the way of a pack strap or a pole swing. In cooler conditions the Peak Performance Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women moves to the base-layer role, under a midlayer and a shell jacket. Where it stops is clear: it offers no wind or water protection of any kind, so the outer layer has to do that job. For standing around in the cold, or for any ski day without a midlayer and shell over the top, choose a long-sleeve insulating layer instead.

What is it made of and how do you wash it?

The fabric is 85% polyester and 15% wool throughout. Care is more restrictive than for a pure synthetic tee, and following it is what keeps the knit and the prints intact. Machine wash cold at 30 °C on the wool programme, inside out and with similar colours, without softener and without bleach. Do not tumble dry: lay the Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women flat in the shade, reshaping it while still wet. Do not iron the garment and in particular do not iron the chest or back print. Dry cleaning and professional wet cleaning are both out.

What does Peak Performance say about sustainability here?

The Peak Performance Wool-blend Shortsleeve Women is made without intentionally added PFAS. That is straightforward for a garment like this, because the tee relies on no water-repellent finish for its function in the first place - the fabric does the work.
