More informationWhat Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.
Our premium ski jackets combine functionality, style, and top quality, so you can fully enjoy your winter sports adventure. Explore our collection and find your perfect insulated ski jacket!

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.

- 30,000 mm ALP-3 3L membrane, fully taped seams
- 60 g PrimaLoft Gold Eco, 55% recycled content
- Laminated 600D Cordura scuff guards on the legs
- 60 g insulation: light to medium, not for deep cold
- Fixed insulation, too warm for spring high output
- No RECCO, gaiter or side zips stated by the maker
The Mountain Studio P-3 3L Carv Insulated Stretch Pant is a men's insulated three-layer ski pant built for resort and piste days in cold, wet weather. It combines a 30,000 mm waterproof ALP-3 stretch membrane with 60 g PrimaLoft Gold Eco insulation, so a single pant covers the full day without a separate liner. Laminated 600 denier Cordura scuff guards protect the lower legs where edges and boot buckles do the damage.
Who is this ski pant for?
The P-3 3L Carv Insulated Stretch Pant suits a resort skier or snowboarder who wants one dependable pant for cold days on groomed terrain, in a clean, non-baggy silhouette. It is the wrong pant if you stand still in deep cold for long stretches: the manufacturer itself describes the 60 g insulation as medium to light. It is also the wrong pant for warm spring skiing or high-output days, because the insulation is fixed and cannot be removed. If you want a bib, look elsewhere; this is a waist pant with belt loops.
How waterproof and how warm is the P-3 Carv pant?
The ALP-3 membrane is rated 30,000 mm water column and 30,000 g/m2/24h vapour transmission, and every seam is fully taped, so wet chairlifts and soft snow are not an issue. Membrane and DWR finish are stated PFAS-free. Warmth comes from 60 g PrimaLoft Gold Eco, supported by a Dupont Sorona insulation barrier at the lower back of the waistband. Ventilation zippers let you dump heat when the pace rises.
Which size should you choose?
The cut is ergonomic and modern: regular through the thigh and straight enough to sit over ski boots, with a 3D adjustable waistband that tunes the waist within one size. The manufacturer supplies no body measurement chart and no size recommendation, so use the size chart on this page and measure your waist and inseam. This retailer carries S to XL, and not every colourway is offered in every size.
How is the P-3 3L Carv Insulated Stretch Pant constructed?
The Mountain Studio P-3 3L Carv Insulated Stretch Pant is built around a three-layer laminate: a stretch nylon-spandex face fabric, the ALP-3 membrane and a bonded backer, joined as one piece of fabric instead of a shell with a loose liner. All seams are fully taped. Inside sits 60 g PrimaLoft Gold Eco, a synthetic insulation that keeps loft when damp, plus a Dupont Sorona insulation barrier at the lower back of the waistband, the spot that loses heat first on a chairlift. The 3D adjustable ergonomic waistband shapes the fit around the hips, and the stretch in the shell keeps the pant moving with you through turns and on the stairs to the lift.
Is the P-3 Carv pant suitable for off-piste and ski touring?
The P-3 3L Carv Insulated Stretch Pant is positioned by the manufacturer as a resort and piste pant, and that is where it is strongest: 30,000 mm of waterproofing and taped seams for full days in snow and sleet, 600 denier Cordura on the lower legs for edge and buckle contact. The manufacturer's FAQ also claims touring performance, but the source states no harness compatibility, no full-length side zips and no snow gaiter, so treat it as a pant for occasional off-piste laps from the lift rather than for ski mountaineering or technical alpine climbing. Ventilation zippers help on short skin tracks; they do not turn a fixed-insulation pant into a shell.
What is the P-3 Carv pant made of and how do you wash it?
The shell of The Mountain Studio P-3 3L Carv Insulated Stretch Pant is a stretch nylon-spandex laminate; the manufacturer does not state the exact percentages. The lower legs carry laminated Cordura 600 denier, a high-abrasion nylon that resists cuts from steel edges. Insulation is PrimaLoft Gold Eco with 55% recycled content, and the waistband barrier is Dupont Sorona. Wash the pant at 40 °C, inside out and separately, with all fasteners closed and a mild detergent only. Skip bleach and fabric softener, tumble dry on low heat and iron cool if needed. Do not dry clean.
How sustainable is this ski pant?
The PrimaLoft Gold Eco insulation in the P-3 3L Carv Insulated Stretch Pant is made with 55% recycled content. The ALP-3 membrane is stated PFAS-free, and the DWR finish is described as PFC-free in two colourway sources and PFAS-free in another. The manufacturer also states that a repair kit is included to support multi-season use.
