A lined jacket contains a filling of down, wool or synthetic material.
What Is an Insulated Ski Jacket and What Are the Options?
An insulated ski jacket is essential for anyone seeking warmth and comfort while skiing or snowboarding. The insulation helps maintain your body temperature, even in the harshest conditions. There are different types of insulation, each with its own advantages. In this guide, we explain the differences so you can make the perfect choice.
Down Insulation: Lightweight and Extremely Warm
A jacket insulated with down is the ideal choice for those looking for maximum warmth without sacrificing comfort. Down provides excellent insulation and is very lightweight, making it perfect for cold, dry conditions. However, keep in mind that down performs less well in wet conditions unless the jacket has been specially treated to resist moisture.
Wool Insulation: Natural and Breathable
Jackets with wool insulation offer a natural alternative. Wool is not only warm but also breathable and retains heat even when damp. This option is ideal for those who prefer natural materials and comfort in varying weather conditions.
Synthetic Insulation: Versatile and Low-Maintenance
Synthetic insulation, such as PrimaLoft or Thinsulate, offers excellent warmth and performs well in wet conditions. This option is often slightly heavier than down but dries quickly and is easier to care for. It’s ideal for active winter sports enthusiasts who value versatility and affordability.
Why Choose an Insulated Ski Jacket?
-
Optimal Warmth: Protect yourself against extreme cold.
-
Comfort During Activity: Maintain your freedom of movement without sacrificing insulation.
-
Suitable for Various Weather Conditions: Whether you're skiing in powder snow or braving a cold wind, an insulated jacket adapts to your needs.
Which Insulation Suits You Best?
The right insulation depends on your personal preferences and the conditions in which you’ll wear the jacket. Looking for ultimate warmth and comfort? Go for down. Need a versatile, low-maintenance option? Consider synthetic materials. Or choose wool for a natural feel.

- Are you too late? Then your order will no longer be found in the portal. In that case, always contact us first so we can see what possibilities there are.
- After registering online, you then have 14 days to hand in your return at the post office. If you hand in the parcel after the 14 days, we will unfortunately no longer be able to process your return. The sooner you register and send in your return, the sooner it will be processed and you will receive your money back.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE:
1. Check your items
√ Has the return period of 14 days after receipt not expired
√ Is the yellow return label (in the case of outerwear and trousers) and all price tags still attached?
√ Is the article unworn and therefore not dirty, damaged or creased?
2. Submit your return online
Enter your own postcode and the full order number (including letters) in the portal to which you can start the return. You can choose to purchase a DPD shipping label via the portal. If you choose this option, print the shipping label. You can download this immediately and it will also be sent to you by e-mail (please check your e-mail address and any spam mail).
You can also choose another carrier outside the portal. We always advise you to send the parcel insured. The DPD label via the portal insures your parcel up to €500.
3. Pack your return
√ Fold the items neatly and close all zips and buttons. Because of the technical materials it is important not to cause serious creases and wrinkles, as these can damage the product.
Then pack the items back in their original packaging and put them in the shipping bag or box. Another bag or box is also fine, as long as it is sturdy so that it arrives undamaged
√ If you have items from several orders that you wish to return, you may simply return them in 1 parcel
√ Put the enclosed packing slip/order confirmation (or a copy) in the parcel
√ Stick the DPD shipping label on the parcel.
If you have chosen to send via another carrier, please write the return address on the parcel:

- 3-layer HELLY TECH Professional, fully seam sealed
- Cinchable back and waist to shape the boxy cut
- Helmet hood with 2-way adjustment, RECCO reflector
- Pure shell, no insulation: needs a midlayer when cold
- Relaxed, boxy cut, not a slim or race-style fit
- Ski-specific design, not built for harness climbing
The Helly Hansen Emiko Shell Jacket is a women's 3-layer shell ski jacket with a HELLY TECH Professional membrane and fully sealed seams. It gives waterproof, windproof protection in wet and wintery conditions. It pairs a relaxed, boxy, Japanese-inspired cut with full ski features, including a helmet-compatible hood, an adjustable powder skirt and a RECCO reflector, for groomers, the terrain park, side country and the village.
Who is the Helly Hansen Emiko Shell Jacket for?
The Helly Hansen Emiko Shell Jacket suits women who ski the whole mountain and want a roomy shell they can layer to suit the day. It is a good match if you like a looser silhouette but want the option to draw it in at the waist and back. It is not the right choice if you want a slim, close-fitting or race-style jacket. It is also not a jacket that keeps you warm on its own during long, cold chairlift rides.
How waterproof and how warm is the Emiko Shell Jacket?
This women's shell ski jacket combines a HELLY TECH Professional waterproof, breathable membrane with a 100% polyester shell fabric in a 3-layer construction. Every seam is sealed, and a water repellent treatment helps the outer fabric shed rain and snow. The Emiko Shell Jacket has no insulation. It blocks wind and water, but the warmth comes from the layers you wear underneath.
Which size should I choose in the Emiko Shell Jacket?
The Helly Hansen Emiko Shell Jacket has a relaxed, boxy fit with articulated elbows. The cut leaves room for a base layer and an insulating midlayer underneath. The adjustable waist and cinchable back bring the silhouette closer to the body when you want a more fitted look. Compare your body measurements with the Helly Hansen women's size chart on this product page before you order.
How is the Helly Hansen Emiko Shell Jacket constructed?
The Helly Hansen Emiko Shell Jacket is a 3-layer hardshell built around a HELLY TECH Professional membrane, the waterproof, breathable technology Helly Hansen uses in its technical ski range. The membrane is combined with a 100% polyester shell fabric in a single 3-layer construction. All seams are fully sealed, so the stitching lines do not become entry points for water. The outer fabric has a water repellent treatment that helps snow and rain run off the surface. There is no insulation in the Emiko Shell Jacket. The protection comes from the membrane and the sealed seams, and you control the warmth with the layers you choose underneath.
Can you ride the park and side country in the Emiko Shell Jacket?
Helly Hansen designed the Emiko Shell Jacket for the whole mountain: groomers, terrain park, side country and village wear. The helmet-compatible hood adjusts both vertically and horizontally and has a neon brim. A soft fleece chin guard sits against your face when the jacket is zipped to the top. The adjustable powder skirt and adjustable cuffs help keep snow out in deep snow and after a fall. Articulated elbows give freedom of movement. A RECCO reflector is built in, so organised rescue teams using RECCO detectors can locate the wearer. For storage, the women's shell ski jacket has two zippered hand pockets and a zippered chest pocket with YKK zippers, an inner zippered chest pocket, an inside stash pocket and a dedicated ski pass pocket.
Is the Emiko Shell Jacket suitable for backcountry skiing and mountaineering?
Helly Hansen lists backcountry skiing among the uses of the Emiko Shell Jacket, and the waterproof 3-layer shell and RECCO reflector make it usable for occasional days beyond the resort. Its relaxed cut and ski features are built around resort and freeride skiing rather than dedicated ski touring. The Helly Hansen Emiko Shell Jacket is not designed for technical alpine climbing or mountaineering with a harness: the boxy cut, the powder skirt and the ski pass pocket are made for skiing, not for climbing. On cold days, wear it over a base layer and an insulating midlayer, because the shell itself adds no warmth.
What is the Emiko Shell Jacket made of and how do you wash it?
The shell of the Helly Hansen Emiko Shell Jacket is 100% polyester. Before washing, close all zippers and hook-and-loop fastenings. Do not soak the jacket and do not use fabric softener. Wash dark colours separately. Tumble drying reactivates the water repellent treatment, so a regular wash and dry helps the outer fabric keep shedding water. Remove the jacket from the dryer promptly, and do not iron over the printed HH logo.
